Thunderbird Club

My wife grew up in London. Londoners eat weird stuff fished out of the Thames. That's one she wouldn't touch. Being a primitive type, I will eat anything from anywhere and tried jellied eels. It was a mistake. There's at least one thing I won't eat.

Cultures make do with what they have. The cultures in the UK all developed on an island. Pretty amazing what you can do with what's there. They're weird to some of us because they eat "weird stuff". I'm weird to them because i think nothing of driving for hours to get somewhere.

It's a morning of much packing and getting ready for me, we're off on a three day trip to play 7 Cedars Casino outside of Sequim, WA. It's the big rock show for Halloween so we go all out, I have three outfit changes and four basses along for the ride. T he Les Paul Gold Top gets the nod for the first set, with the Epi VP being used on the last two songs as they're detuned a half step. The Jackson gets the second set and the Lull owns the third.
I write the set list and this show we're really watching the clock, we start at 8:30 and need to have two sets and a break in before 11:00 at which point the Casino does it's costume contest, that gives us about an hour to cool off and regroup. The last set can go as long as it needs to and anything that gets cut for time could be played there if we feel like it. As you can see, it's mostly '80s stuff with a few others in there, in writing the set list my goal is to just keep the evening steadily ramping up, so we don't mess around between songs much, just plow ahead, it keeps folks asses on the dance floor.
I will try to post some stuff as time allows - be good!

A great set list BUT...

What is a Halloween show with out Alice Cooper? Welcome to My Nightmare, Cold Ethyl, No More Mr. Nice Guy, or Feed My Frankenstein would work. Or, if you are adventurous, the Ballad of Dwight Fry. Dead Babies can be done in less than 2 minutes...

Moral of the story should be - feed the idiots who can't design and maintain a simple power grid to the mountain lawnmower. This isn't rocket science, the state has been managing these things fairly well for the last 100 years. Find out what changed and fix it!
I would take issue with the idea that they have been managing well enough given the previous few decades with rotating blackouts, fires, and the current planned blackouts. I might be inclined to agree that they were doing well enough up until some time in the 80s... But I don't have any data to support adequate management up to the 80s.

i suspect this has something to do with it....kinda hard one to fix...

So far it's lower electric bills but offsetting costs by orders of magnitude for back up power generators, propane, ice, and spoiled food. And that doesn't even take into account the hassle of no power to things like security systems, smoke alarms, cell phone charging, etc.

I and everyone I know agrees. It's a stupid plan proposed by stupid CEOs and approved by stupid Politicians all of whom assume we consumers are even stupider and won't do something about it.

Good! People around hear are starting to gather pitchforks.

We have both Bevmo and Total Wine down here. Bevmo is routinely 10% or or more over the Total Wine pricing.

BTW - the power is back on now. So later today when I finish setting up the 2015 THUNDERBIRD with the heavy Black Beauties I'll post a pic and give my first impressions of the new strings on this bird.
dunno....fake news?....

50,000 ordered to evacuate as wildfire spreads north of Los Angeles

sound clips of the Black Beauties please!!:thumbsup:

In honor of Thunderbird Thursday (well, coincidentally) I had a power-pop trio rehearsal using my Deadlybird IV (one of 3 chosen T-bird basses used in this band) through an SWR 400s/mongrel 15" cab tonight - love that combo... there's a farty tone you get if you push the driver a bit and favor the neck pu with a pinch of bridge pu. So R&R. (think Mountain, Cream)

Way to dominate and take no prisoners! Even sounds great throgh an iPhone.

really? look again...70000 vs. 10000000? hmmm i realize the scaling is not the same but...add to that extremely dry weather and high winds...
LA should not be there....it's growth was not sustainable from day 1..
Agree that growth wasn’t sustainable from day one. But a couple hundred years ago it was a sleepy town along a meandering river that flowed 60 miles frim beautiful mountains to the sea with near perfect weather year round. And a decent harbor close by. Who wouldn’t want to live there? Now...it’s a mess.

Some cool toons there. Have you ever thought about doing some stranglers.
