they do play and sound great, though. A friend of mine has a Ripper, all maple, bolt on. Not sure what those pups are?, single coil or hum bucker, but the little I've played on it, seems like a pretty great bass.... not too heavy.

We can get a bit chatty and I feel this may have gotten passed over, were I doing this I'd follow the conventional wisdom 8K in the neck, 9K bridge, it'll be easier to eq, esp. if you use some other basses.
I just think it sounds kind of friendly.Yeah, I know: Grab 'er and Rip 'er... Sounds like an encourament to go out rape someone...![]()
I used heat in my goth and it worked better than expected. The next time I do something like that I will definatly be using the heat gun first. But that is my experience.Didn't you already try that, and wasn't the poly on the Goth almost impossible to remove?

"Bolt on ripper? Ibanez copy?"
IIRC..... but there's a good chance that I don't......
This one's a Gibby..... Normally set neck?

I'm willing to bet this has happened to most in not all of us at some point. I know it has happened to me on occasion. Sorry bout that. Doesn't happen intentionally.I also had this question and got over looked, But this answer's what I'm going to do and order a set tomorrow when he comes back.

Seems like these Chinese pick ups are pretty good eh? Whomever has them, how do they compare or better, contrast to Gibson TB+?
They made fewer than 140 of the whites in 77-78, they've really yellowed over the years. I've owned two of them, bought the first one sold in Hollywood CA in '77. Traded it five years later for a '77 Sting Ray I still have. Bought the current one from the original owner about 5 years ago.
IMO Bicentennials are inferior to original 60s Reverses. If you own both you know why.

A few of the reasons: lighter, better balanced, pickups, more refined body woodworking.
