There must have been a factory in Japan that made various parts and pieces for all kinds of things. They were all a little odd, and they turn up all the time as part of 1960s vintage Japanese all kinds of things. It's the kind of weirdness that is in short supply lately.

There has been a worldwide deficiency in weirdness since sometime around 1990. Grunge stamped out weird for weird's sake. I blame Kurt Cobain.

I am working on the all popping Stand By Me. Rotos are hard on your fingers if you are doing nothing but popping. It sounds terrible. It is worse with envelope filter, distortion, and/or fuzz. And it needs lots of compression. I am trying to find an acceptably terrible Thunderbird all popping sound for Stand By Me. If I find it, I will see if I can post a sample here. But right now it is horrible in a way that can't be good.

On the other hand, Killin in the Name of sounds great with distortion or fuzz on a Thunderbird.

You're on the right track. Just add a judicious touch of full on phaser and I think you can call it done. Rehearsal space for the tour can now be secured and travel arraignments start being booked. This is a go!

And if you're going to play Rotos, don't complain about playing Rotos.

It's more the fact that one large factory made many different guitars and basses using similar/same parts and badged them differently to spread-out product across the market like a net. Unlike Fender or Gibson, which were only Fender and Gibson until much later incorporating Squier and Epiphone.

However it happened, the result was great.

I was close - looks like you can twist the bridge bolts off and on w/o using a screw-driver and if it gets frozen you can use a screwdriver. Yep, pu's, knobs and rocker-switches are ones used on many different models of different badged Teisco basses/guitars.

yes, fingers work. Also the bridge is a 2 saddle job that may have been built by the work experience kiddies.

Not quite there yet. I need some others to do a show - maybe Born Under a Bad Sign... I bet there are a bunch of U2 songs that would be terrible with popping only. Maybe I should expand my horizons and get some Funk Fingers from Tony Levin and see if I can do Iron Maiden with them on; Run to the Hills with Funk Fingers...

I'll have to give phaser a try. Flanger wasn't helpful.

Rotos are what happen to be on the white bird right now, so it is what it is. I had never understood why people complained that Rotos were hard on the fingers, maybe they are popping too much. SITs are on my list of strings to try.
