from memory the Classic Pro is 9 ply like the Gibson, but the Pro IV / V is 7 ply but wider strips.

How does a Gibson's construction compare? That's what I'd like to know. If someone could show a photo of the backside of their Gibby's that would be helpful
Looks like 5 of those plies go thru the neck.
I'd be all over that bass myself except that I just purchased TWO Danos.
Ok, I’ve searched everywhere and keep getting conflicting info. Are ALL epi IV nuts 1.73” wide? Some many sites quote 1.5”.

I love my PRO IV. I put flats on mine and it sounds sooooo good. Have bounced back and forth about modding it to passive but then I play it and always end up appreciating it for all the uniqueness it is.

I have to admit, it looks much prettier in person than in pictures, but I was never a fan of all natural bass (it is just a question or personal taste at the end). But the raw neck feel is truly amazing compared to a painted one.
Still juggling with the idea of allying a dye then a few coats of oil to the body, maybe do a burst, so it still shows the grain but have a more appealing look to me. But time will tell, I might ending up keeping it all natural.
Only mod I did so far is straplocks (as I do to all my basses). As I like very much how it sounds, I'm not tempted to mess with the electronics.
The only decision left is which bass I will put flats on, this one or my Jag...

I've worn away enough that you can see typical Gibson 9 ply construction.
This isn't the only thing with a well worn backside at my house

Note the same number of laminates in this bass as in our Queens bass (posted above). However, the laminate structure of each appears to be different.
V's bird looks to be:
Mahogany/maple/walnut/maple/Mahogany/maple/walnut/maple/mahogany
for a total of 9 plies.
Mine looks to be mahogany/walnut/mahogany/walnut/mahogany/walnut/Mahogany/walnut/Mahogany
for a total of 9 plies.
