Thunderbird Club

Our bandleader is having us play "achy breaky heart" as a special event request. I said no problem..as long as we do "I wanna be sedated" or this one that I have always wanted to cover.

I love that song! (Hint: the one in the video), tho I never heard Lou’s version before.

Congrats!!!

Thanks! I haven’t gotten to play but 3-4 times in over a month. I practiced for close to an hour with it and realized new Rotosounds are cheese graters! I did almost no sliding and my index finger is still spitting and hissing at me. But otherwise it felt great and sounded great, too.

My Father and a couple of Uncles were in WW2. Dad was part of the force at Balikpapan, then Borneo now Indonesia, after a brief visit to the Moratai battle. He was a gunner and ended up with the eardrum closest to the gun being destroyed. Fixed by a graft in the late 70s - early 80s.

He never spoke about it (his war experiences) until a little bit in his last couple of years.

his Dad, my Grand Father, was in WW1. In the last (2nd?) battle at the Somme. Got gassed but survived until 1960, died of emphysema.

My son took me to watch 1917 last Sunday. It is worth watching.

I was left feeling extremely thankful that neither my son or I needed to be involved in War.

My grandfather fought for the Italian Army in WW I. Italy was an American ally for the first World War. He became a POW of the Germans. His captors made him and his fellow prisoners fight for their food - just for fun. I can't even imagine what that must have been like. . .

My grandfather also fought for Italy in WWI.

Fun fact: That grandfather was born in 1882 and my dad was born in 1946 and is my grandfather's only child. That's how close I was to never being here. In fact if my grandmother's first husband hadn't had died, my grandfather would probably have never married and fathered a child(my dad). Grandma pursued grandpa, a lifelong bachelor and at 48 got herself pregnant... go go grandma... and sealed the deal. She had 7 kids to feed from her first marriage and my dad made 8.

As for the Ashdown... it's a'ight. Kind of weird with it's R body and NR styled pickguard.

Happy Thunderbird Thursday everyone. I am in (relatively) warm Phoenix checking on my sister and visiting a few friends. She is out of the hospital and hoping to keep it that way. A buddy and I are going to check out the Barret Jackson auto auction today. 70 degrees should seem positively balmy, and I would never have imagined fruit would be on in January!
Happy to report Saturday's gig went very well, including my one attempt at lead vocals. I also heard from Guy at Ashdown with a schematic and some advice on my little amp. Lastly, my pickguard arrived from the other side of the planet!
I hope everyone has a great Thursday

Why not turn it into a rock and roll or metal song? Give it some crunchy distortion and growl out the vocals, might be good. ;)

good to hear about a good day. I know where the new PG came from, but where did you get the metal one? I’ve tried to search with no luck.

Yup, that's right "rub it in" for the Midwest who are enjoying balmy 12 Degrees today, you are there at the perfect time, cold as hell at night & 60/70 during the day. Glad your gig went well & Ashdown is showing you some love, enjoy!!

Low 80s and gorgeous sunshine here yesterday, high of 60 today (and wet). Lows this week vary from 55 to 35. My THUNDERBIRDS don't care. They dance beneath my fingers, warming my heart and ears.
