Thunderbird Club

My JC is an LP.........Nasty, snarling bass, needs no toys between it and the amp - love it.

This one's been on the wall for six years now. I was made a very nice offer, so the bread I had on a GK head I've moved to the bass. Seemed like a reasonable thing to do, even if I have to physically defend myself after I bring it home. Lol.
Back to Wing Chun class tomorrow! :smug:
Everybody have fun tonight,
Everybody wing chun tonight.

Love my gold Jack Casady! I have been very happy with the sound and feel of the Ernie Ball Cobalt flats I recently put on her. I bought these two packs while here in Az. Thinking about trying them on my 5 string Thunderbird. Anyone have experience with flats on a bird? Great idea? Crazy heresey? Any advice greatly appreciated
I hate cobalt flats!

Carry on...

I am moving slow today. Orgone put on the usual amazing show. Being the ugliest, oldest merch girl ever worked out ok, too. Strange things sometimes happen. I got flashed. I am not sure why she decided to flash the merch table, but it sure made me laugh. She was completely enthusiastic about it. I assume she was practicing before she tried it on the band.
Laughter may not have been an expected reaction and may have caused her to rethink many life-choices. Or perhaps just hazy hang-over memories of some ugly merch girl that annoyed her.

I know I'll be getting a second 'Bird, that's an undisputed fact and I'm not even gonna try to pretend otherwise. That TBird voodoo thing is just too compelling not to surrender to.

Apart from knowing I want a neck-through model, I'm not sure what to focus on: a Gibby, which is always choice numero uno, but for all the love I have for playing bass and 'Birds, music is still a hobby and spending 3K CDN for a new instrument doesn't fully register. Used 'Birds are rather scarce around here but I'm keeping my eyes opened. I also usually steer clear of active basse, so it rules out another model, leaving only the discontinued Classic Pro IV (which I know and owned in the past, but doesn't sound quite as full as I'd like) or the more recent Vintage Pros, which I haven't tried because no local shops carry them at this point.

Time for a drink.
I can leave requests with my local L&M. I picked up my Mesa 410 for C$250 by asking them to keep an eye open for a cheap cab. As soon as they saw it, they put it on hold for me. My brother got his Traynor darkhorse Cab the same way - one popped up in store in BC, they nabbed it for him. Took a couple of weeks to arrive as it got passed store to store on the way here (cheapest shipping option - free). I currently have them looking out for a cheap head to leave at my brother's with the 410.

Mock-up for the pedalboard. The white box represents the Dogtone Bass Fuzz, which is away getting converted for external power. The (large) power supply goes where the cordless skilsaw is.

Sequence is;
Thunderbird...
Broughton HPF...
Wireless...
A/B/Y splitter (A on to pedals, B off to a second amp sans fx)...
SansAmp thing...
Dogtone Bass Fuzz (white box)...
GK combo.
(Ok the hookups aren't right in the photo)

I'll finish it at work on lunch breaks. Hopefully all will be done in time for a gig on Friday.
I would have put the HPF last and the fuzz first. But what ever works for you.
