It's cool for sure but the slabishness of it is a turn-off for me. Mike Lull does a much better T-bird-esk bass ergonomically. (it's not all that difficult really...)

I don't mind that so much - just add a belly bevel and elbow bevel - make the bird-concept more ergonomic!

I don’t change my HPF often, but some rooms I play in kinda require it. There are some weird, boomy rooms out there

I'm continually edging toward a NR type build but with very ergonomic features - especially after seeing that Ashdown. Nothing you'll ever see at NAMM, that's for certain. I'm already skating around it - it's just the upper horn/12th fret thing (what fret is aligned with the upper strap-peg in this pic? answer: 16th fret ~) .. but I love a challenge.

What the difference between using a HPF and just turning the bass down at the amp?

Only gold I entertained - my majorly chambered alder/maple bodied silver & gold "Glam P/J" - Marty Bell sparkle/tobacco>back side finish.
