Thunderbird Club

Happy Thunderbird Thursday everyone. I am glad the weekend is almost here. Rainy and gray is Spokane today, forecast for high 30s so hoping the glacier that developed in my driveway will continue to recede. Missing the sun I enjoyed during my brief time in Az. Here's a pic of the girls from last night.
Nice indeed!

We get a lot of cloudy days in Ky in the Winter...and the Spring....and.....

Falling Iguanas actually made the news on many channels in Canada.

[rant] because the news couldn't find anything to report about Canada!? Newfoundland storm, federal cabinet meeting, teacher strike, pipeline court challenges... No, frozen iguanas. No wonder we no longer trust the tv news.[/rant]

Apparently the schmoe was incorrect - just did a search and there is no mention on the Hagstrom Wiki page referring to Airline guitars (that one was called the "Longhorn") as something they made. Vintage '50s-'60s Airline guitars/basses have been extensively revisited by Eastwood Guitars in recent years.

funny, when I asked dude at the store how come these offset bodied guitars were so popular now he explained kids don’t wanna play guitars that look like their parent’s........heck, the way I remember it, you played a jaguar or Jazzmaster when you couldn’t afford a Strat..:D

There's an editorial in this month's Premier Guitar about this.

When we moved to Austin from Atlanta, the websites all noted that Austin had a month less of cloudy days. But I knew better; most of the cloudy days here are far less cloudy. Sunshiiiine!

I got my Vintage Pro and wanted to post up here for TT but my son is home sick and I’m not finding time to give it a good cleaning (very dirty from previous owner) and photo before the sun goes down.
Either way, I’m really surprised how different it is in some ways compared to the CP I have, feels bigger not just in length but also body girth, similar if not slimmer neck than CP. I really like it, very comfy. Haven’t had much time plugged in.
Series parallel switch in the future. Also have to find the right hard shell case. Later.
Fortunately, with time zone corrections etc, you have about 96 hours left in Thunderbird Thursday. Alternately, you have up to 96 hours before the next Thunderbird Thursday to post a post-dated picture.

When I saw the headstock of the white one in that photo, I started thinking they might be offering a specific color that would require me to have GAS and then actually do something about it. But, nope. It's white with purple/pink light on it. No Burgundy Mist Metallic from the factory.
There are other BMM offerings this year. I think the NR VP could come in a BMM finish...

It’s Thursday, time for THUNDERBIRDS!

The Silverburst is waiting for it’s new Hipshot Supertone that I ordered last weekend. It’s wearing the Gibson Slingshot strap that I’ve been using on the ‘15 for a few years now. The ‘15 has a new Italia strap coming. The PB is getting a lot of playing time; it’s turned out to be an amazing bass for a bolt-on IV. And I’m in love with it’s fretboard. I’m confident the Silverburst will be it’s equal with the new bridge.

That's my favorite diner trick!

I remember Jerry Lewis was on David Letterman and set his water glass on the edge of Daves desk/table deliberately to unnerve him. It was subtle and if you didn't see what he was doing you'd have missed it. I never had much love for later JL, but loved the King of Comedy.

One for Thunderbird Thursday...

Oh, wait. That's no Thunderbird...just the best dog on earth resting in the basement!

There, Thunderbirds.

That photo shows some differences between your '64 and VP. Pickup location is the big one. The VP appears to have the bridge pickup shifted toward the bridge. I imagine it snarls a bit more than the '64. There is more room between the pickups on the VP, so bridge only, they should sound similar.
