interesting direction for Fender..... gave this bad boy a try today and man....almost walked out with it...plugged into an Eden top and 2X10 cab. the Aguilar pup/preamp setup along with the pup placement were optimal for me. neck is a dream...REALLY well thought out bass..

Yep - that's the 'other' Flee sig bass - closer to his early Modulus, sans cf neck. Is it a P-width nut?

Even the mighty Fender must BOW before the mighty humbucker. BOW.

Actually Fender rocked a Seth Lover bucker on their early '70s Tele bass, so nothing too new...

I thought about the Tele mudbucker as well but this is a completely different animal. Almost like Fender finally admitting Leo’s way forward after Fender was the right one..

Oh I agree - but maybe not the right one, but another right one! As an admirer of the Leo Fender (like Miles Davis) - reinventing/innovating was their headlights. (or better yet, search-light) With LF, like Miles - there were 3 distinct and game-changing phases of their creativity. Fender, MM & G&L - each one a sea change.

tough one, cause for me a G&L is a refinement of the MM platform where the Stingray was a radical departure from Fender...

Had falling iguanas on the news here yesterday.

saw Hamish Anderson supporting Thorogood. I missed the start of his set due to slow pizza service. Hamish (3 piece) threw Miss You and Little Red Rooster into the set which is alright by me . Enjoyable. I’ll look up more of his music from now on.

George was ThoroughlyGood. Although we all wanted an extra 20-30 minutes of the show. It was the earliest finish I’ve seen for a long time. approx 8:40 - approx 10:15.
did not play ‘you talk too much’ or ‘treat her right’ to my recollection.

George came out looking like he could be Keef’s younger brother, bandanna and all.

His band was good. The sax bloke looked like Mike @GonePlaid down in Sydney to lend a hand. Him or Glenn A. Baker (ex Rock Brain of the Universe (or something) ).

the bass player surprised by having a fancy looking bass with curled horns. Played right over the bridge. Sounded good.

a nice moment was that he brought up a young kid onto the stage for ‘Get a haircut’. They gave him some shakers, and at the point they formed up all in a line they motioned him over to be a part of the line. They made him take a bow at the songs end.

I’m got back to the car to find there had been a brief ‘mud rain’ earlier. Yuck.

I'm thinking about picking up one these sets. I really want the Ampeg but I don't need that much power plus I was actually trying to downsize.

That Portaflex stack looks like good value ... and if you are going to mix 10s and 15s, that's the ratio in which to do it. The PF800 supposedly has none of the problems that some PF500s had. Can't recall hearing anything bad about the PF800, so if Ampeg is your thing, you should go for it.

Bizarro cool. Classy pawn-shop.

ding-ding-ding! You win a cupie-doll! :) I created this bass, a bass that never existed. It was based on a Kay guitar (also badged "Old Craftsman") from the late '50s called the "Solo-King". (a bass was never made) When I first saw a pic of it many years ago - I thought it was one of the most beautiful club-footed designs I'd ever seen. The neck is a re-purposed Epi EBO ss neck and I designed the 1-1/4" alder body around the Solo King. It has a rotary switch similar to the early EB-3's and crude soapbar pu's. My finish concept was to make it look like it was found in a dark dusty corner of a pawn shop! The funny part is that it feels really comfortable to play, balances well, is stupid light and sounds great! Very bold and R&R! :bassist: It's been collecting real aging/dust now as I've not touched it for years! I almost feel like trading it for 'quick cash' at a pawn shop so that it develops a Shaggs-level mystic!

Agree, the Stingray was as you say - but as much as the G&L L1000 was a refinement - what put G&L on the map was the L2000.

My T2K Mk II is my tribute to Leo's Legacy. When all else fails - break glass for it. :bassist:

That's a cool bass.
