Condenser mics use a capacitor to pick up sound. The change in capacitance due to vibration is what produces the signal...
And a ribbon is a different animal because it generates a current due to movement of the ribbon in a magnetic field. Or something like that. I still haven't completely figured out how Alumitones work. It's been explained to me several times, but that was a brain part that didn't survive rugby.

I realized long ago with guitars that regardless of whether I thought low hangers looked cool, it was the equivalent of running ape hangers on a motorcycle- less control, add pain.
You are right, but I am really used to playing lower.
I do vary my strap height according to what I am playing.
Jazz with soloing all the way up the neck requires the bass to be higher than rock. (Unless I’m playing Rush or something like that)

I’ve been having right elbow issues lately so having the bass too high actually causes pain.

For you heathens who never read Berkeley Breathed's Bloom County:

Hodgepodge (the rabbit) became the group's drummer. Opus (the penguin (see below)) was the closest they had to a bass player.

Interesting trivia. As you probably know, the band who did U-Stink-But-I-♥-U was NJ band Mucky Pup. I saw them a couple of times back in the day.

I have a couple of friends who can play with their guitars or basses really low without problems. My body just says no.

I love that! I’ve seldom been as excited to get a book as I was the book with that record in it. We still have it.

I know it "looks cool" to some. Mild ape hangers look OK to me. The real ones just look stupid. And having less control of a motorcycle out there with all te hungry boxes is never cool.
How can you say that this is not cool!? And he is completely safe - he has a helmet on...

I'll tell you a little something about bars that tall too, that I learned from personal experience. When I purchased my bike it had really tall apes on it too, placed my hands about an inch or so above my shoulders. And yeah, clearly your hands eventually go to sleep, that much we can all understand due to plain old physics. But what I learned was that at freeways speeds the entire bike would basically start wobbling from side to side. Imagine a pivot at ground level along the front to rear axis of the bike, and everything above it basically swinging back and forth, side to side. So the amount of movement at the top of those bars was unnerving to say the least. Luckily though, I had already ordered new bars and cables when I purchased the bike because I knew that crap was coming off, so I only had to put up with it for a couple weeks. Never again!

Ok, I won’t. I am not in any way trying to embarrass you. It’s confusing. But I think the original studio version is Turner’s Ric. I think the Live Dates version is on the Tbird he got from Watts. Even more confusing, I think he rewired the bird to stereo at some point.

Info: Just saw a Youtube video from 1971, live, Jailbait (from the same album). Showed him playing a Ric with the pickup switch on neck, neck toaster pickup. Thank you very much.

Crap. I knew that. Thanks. Stupid fingers.
I've been called a lot of things, but I have never been called "stupid fingers" before.

:roflmao:

Dear sir,
Perhaps you should visit your eye doctor. You appear to have mistaken an end-of-gracious-thought period for a snarkificational comma.
Sincerely,
