Thunderbird Club

Great video! Tight band, nice shots of everybody, sweet bass sound, rippin strat, basic but perfect drumming, spot on vocals, all mixed very nicely. Many up and coming bands place the singer way too forward in the mix, yours was done perfectly - I could clearly hear every instrument and vocal, no one walked all over everybody else. Hats off to the band and your sound guy/mixer.

Your singer has a strong Heart vibe going - I'd love to hear you guys do Barracuda.

Love Heart. And just noticed the bass player was using a Thunderbird!

Yes, a vodka martini - a lot of people still think gin when referring to a martini. I'm sure Robert (studio owner/engineer) had a compressor goin' on. He made the session so easy and fun for us.
A martini is ONLY made with gin and vermouth, with either olives or a lemon twist. ANYTHING containing other than those ingredients is NOT a martini! Rant over. .;)

Might not be a Gibson RD artist in my immediate future...purchased yesterday morning, only to be messaged by the seller today that he'll "try" to get it out to ship Wednesday night.
There are *two* blue NRs in the classifieds at the moment, plus a black custom shop normal bird. Just sayin, some of y'all are slacking.
where?

The TalkBass classifieds. Go to the top of this page. Use the nav menu to go to Classifieds. Use the Search function (I know, but it’s useful there). Type in “Thunderbird”, select “headers only”, and search.

I see the links now. I love Pelham Blue, but for some reason the non-reverse Gibson T-Birds don't do it for me. Maybe it's the black hardware I don't dig? Hmmm

They honestly do not give a flying fvck. I don't expect them to crawl up my arse, but they really seem to take pleasure in telling people 'nah'.
If you measure it, we might be able to scare up a bass pickup the same size and shape, only black, and ship it to you, cleverly disguised as a bass repair part. Or spray paint. There's always that. Just remember. We are here to enable.

Hi everybody!
I've been a long time lurker here, finally I decided to join the forum and my first post is here in the ultimate cool-bass club.

I'm sure I recognize a lot of you from the facebook thunderbird group, but I always wanted to "enlist" here in the club! Here's a picture of me and my t'bird in jet and gold rockin' at rehearsal.

Best regards and keep on rockin'!

(bass is a epiphone thunderbird ltd black, upgraded with gold hipshot ultralite USA tuners, babicz FCH three-point bridge and custom pickguard & truss rod cover made of gold reflective plexi; pickguard looks banana-yellow because is mirrored and I was playing in a yellow room)
That's a outstanding looking bass guitar! The upgrades really make it unique and beautiful.

I see you have moved the strap pins and have the patented JIO strap thing going, too. Signs of great 'Bird knowledge and understanding.

It's not Epiphone though, it's the local distributor, Australis Music which acts as the 'middle-man' between Epiphone and the retailer. Epiphone > Distributor > Retailer > Purchaser. If you need a part or whatever, you have to find the distributor and they'll tell you 'yes that is available, contact this retailer'.
I guess we all need to head for Sydney, wearing watermelon helmets and wielding cold fried chicken to pay them a visit. Or maybe just send Jeff and the Chechen-Alien underworld posse. That ought to straighten them right out.

Lesson learned. Hipshot listed them in stock. I got a discount offer from a usually reliable seller, applied it, got a confirmation and then nothing. I’m pretty mellow about stuff like that. Would have preferred a Babicz, but the flange/lip on the Epi inserts had me a bit worried. Babicz was designed as OEM for the flush Gibson inserts starting in ‘15. Oh well, I’m in no hurry. I’ve got plenty of Birds to play. But I do want to get the Silverburst (which I love) set up to my specs. The 3 point just doesn’t cut it on that one.
I don't recall whether Babicz spacer plates fit around those inserts or not. There's a Gibson neck angle issue that makes the spacer plate necessary on some 'Birds, but I cannot tell you what years those are. Recent, I think, but I'm not sure exactly. I know for sure that I didn't use the spacer plate on the '01 or the '91. If you need a spacer plate, I have a chrome one. I don't recall whether I have a black one or not, since that bridge came from Wolfkeller.

Yes! Their service! When I emailed to ask about buying different length bridge adjustment screws, they just sent me a set. Their pre-sales support was great, too.
Hipshot are completely amazing. You can call them and speak to an intelligent human who actually knows something. You don't wait 25 minutes in a cue before they answer. They will tell you pro and con of different parts and treat you like you have a brain. Amazing. Kudos to them in all important ways.
