Did we know Simon Gallup from The Cure played a Thunderbird?

I can't speak for everyone, but I knew that he used them. I also like the look of his sig bass. Probably sounds a lot like a Bird and may have been based on the Birds he was using at the time.

I snapped up a used Goth Thunderbird IV for $200. 2016. Pretty much mint shape. Going to throw on some hip shot clover tuners and eventually upgrade to EMG TB pickups. Almost got a Vintage Pro but the Goth in my opinion is the better of them both. For one a maple neck with Rosewood board compared to Mahogany/Walnut neck w/rosewood board. Prefer the satin black finish too. Both use mahogany for the body tho.
Congrats! Pics please.

Not sure I’d agree that a Goth is “better” than a VP. Certainly different. I love mine. Better tuners are a good upgrade for them. Mine now has a Hipshot bridge which I like a lot. I like how the PUPs sound with BBS so don’t feel the urge to try other PUPs. But may eventually. I think the Goths are a great buy.

Thx for the heads up. That listing is from last summer. The bass sold in September IIRC. Imperial Guitars hasn't updated their Gbase listings, but if you go to the actual store website they no longer list it. I have asked them and Normans to keep an eye out for me.
Oh man. Thought it was current. Sorry. They’re in SoCal; have you been to their physical store? Is it worth checking out?

Not helping at all!

It's ok, not nearly as big a selection as Norms.

Anyone noticed any difference between 2017 Vintage Pro Thunderbirds and newer ones? Spec differences (besides fretboard wood types) or quality?
Tuners and to a degree weight. The newer ones went with what feels like cheaper tuners. As far as weight goes, the older ones seemed easier to find in the low 8 pound or lower range. Most now look to be in the mid to high 8 pound range or more.
better/worse/indifferent?
I like the older ones better, but not enough to keep me from buying a newer one.
