Yes. Our little Aussie pup when she first came home with us. That was four years ago. She's grown quite a bit, has more energy than any five dogs I've ever owned, and is the smartest dog I've ever run across. She's never been around other dogs (she's scared of most of them) but instantly bonds with people.
I swear she speaks English. It's gotten to the point where we have to spell certain words out so she doesn't know what we're talking about. Case in point, we have a lot of lizards in the yard here in SoCal. She loves to try and catch them and gets pretty excited when she sees or smells one. We can't say the word "lizard" without her going nuts trying to find it. The other day my wife saw one on the back wall and said to me, "don't tell the dog, but there's a L-I-Z-A-R-D outside". The darn dog went nuts, apparently the dog is learning how to spell. So now we have to intentionally misspell words so she doesn't know what we're talking about.
She even responds to conversations as good as she does commands. I can say to the dog, go lay down in bed, and the dog will do it. However, if I'm talking to my wife and not even looking at the dog, I can say, It sure would be nice if the dog laid down for a while. Sure enough, the dog will walk over to her bed and lay down. We've had three different obedience trainers for the dog and all three were completely shocked with how smart she is and how quickly she could be trained to do just about anything.
Aussies are Great dogs, but a bundle of energy and you have to keep them mentally and physically active all the time. One of these days maybe I'll try and teach her how to play the bass. Maybe a ZZTop song with a lot of repetition and only a few different notes.
With her claws she could probably do a quick relic job on one of my TBirds.

AUSSIEAUSSIEAUSSIEAUSSIEAUSSIE. I really do love Australian Shepherds, my family has had 3 now (two blue merles and a tricolor), and they've all been great dogs. They definitely can pickup on when you're trying to spell out words, dunno if it's spelling or just quickly learning the new sounds, but it damn well seems like they can spell.

I had a dog growing up. She was a mutt from the humane society. She learned all the important words. Then she learned to spell them.
My Mum still asks who pulled down the curtains in the living room and just won't believe that the dog did it.
I noticed RS was a little on the pricey side as well. Almost as if to say, "I dare you to think about buying this." In Nashville, I was being distracted by the fact I kept wondering if the guy working there was Jeff Beck.
Grady saw all the dog pics and pulled that van out and was ready to go visit. I need to keep him off the laptop.

I think we are going to try "Morse Code" next because mine have cracked spelling, hand signals , signal flares, you name it, they've cracked it !! Dang dogs know what I'm going to do before I do LOL AND my "Gertrude" is the perfect "TBird Companion" Whenever there is a storm she runs to the window & is like "what's up" every time she hears THUNDER whereas the other one "Lexi" runs & takes cover LOL

Happy Thunderbird Thursday everyone. I hope all are staying well and adjusting to these unusual times. I am getting more comfortable working from home and suspect as soon as I actually start to enjoy it the stay home order will be lifted.
Read through a post earlier this week about the perceived differences between Thunderbirds and Explorers. I realized I played mine in awhile, so she has been front and center lately. Forgot how much I enjoy playing her. They are a unique instrument. Perhaps an acquired taste, but great fun to play. As with the Thunderbirds, loads of personality and tone for days. Here is a family photo from last night.

I've known some Aussie/Border Collie mixes and they're great.
