Thunderbird Club

I particularly like this one, as the black of the sunburst is more of a gradual fade than many of the others that I’ve seen. You can really see what I mean in this picture of the back

The grain on my Epi burst VP actually has more nice visual interest than that my Gibsons, old or new.

Sorry about the broken bird, but that new bird is adequate compensation!

When it arrives, you can do the happy dance!

You post this for pure pleasure of the visual torture you impose on others, correct? I'll say it again, just when I have gotten that image out of my head you…

Here is a rough demo of my VP in the most in-optimal situation possible.

Its straight into my Scarlett solo interface with a standard instrument cable. This isn't a great sounding interface (extra dry and a bit muffled) and this is the worst possible config. in a couple of weeks I can do direct out XLR from my amp head and also mic my cab with an XLR mic cable. The XLR input sounds better on this interface. As it should, I suppose.

and I didn't use a click track or anything so have fun with that nonsense

2 week old GHS Super Steels with fairly low play time. Front pickup then both pickups. Tone wide open for both.

*and you should probably actually download that file, because I think the web player compresses it even more.
Sounds good like a Thunderbird should!

...And it looks and plays fantastic! Soon as I'm finished, I will send it on your way.;)

I hate that for you and empathize with your agony. Just know that it will be there soon and you will be impressed more than you imagined. Maybe I'm building those VPs up too much! Normally UPS is pretty good about keeping things up-to-date as far as location goes. I suspect you will get an update today. That's fairly odd to get a blank spot or gap with UPS.
So the UPS update is “Civil unrest has delayed your package in transit. Delivery will be rescheduled.” Sign of the times I suppose.

Are Sandberg Forty Eight basses similar sound wise to thunderbirds?
The one I tried sounded good but nothing like a TBird.
My TBirds all sound deeper, darker, thicker and bolder than the sandberg fourty eight. The Sandberg is a much more modern sounding bass similar to a Humbucker equipped Schecter or Dean, a bit more polite and middle of the road than my Gibby TBirds. It's a big departure from the Eppi VP classic TBird sound as well. I could probably approximate its sound with my FrankenGoth, but that's only because I've replaced the Goth internals with an Aggie OBP-2 preamp and the stock pups with coil tap Bartolini Humbuckers.

There has indeed been some rioting here, but not anywhere near where UPS has facilities in town. Not as far as I know, anyway. I can't imagine why there would be a problem getting an item out of Louisville due to civil unrest unless they are planning to drive it through downtown at night. UPS has no facilities downtown that I am aware of. That is puzzling and unless the next location to which it will go is in an area that has been destabilized in someway.
