Disagree! THere are many people that 'play stocks'. And they lose more money doing it than those that 'invest' in vintage Thunderbirds.

The "ummmm" was that this guy is insane. I paid $1500. Lefty Gibson Thunderbirds aren't exactly rare.

I thought that price was pretty ambitious. You don't see the leftys a lot, but they don't seem super rare.

I knew I should have worded that differently. Made it sound like stocks go up and no one "plays" with stocks. Read an interesting article the other day that millinnial's sitting at home playing day traders are causing some of the volatility in the market, despite the fact that the average day trader ends up with below average return for all that activity. Everyone's mileage will vary. So play with your Thunderbird, not your stocks.

Yeah, that has been the case for more than a decade. Day traders -> paying to provide liquidity in the market...

But if you want to lose money really quickly, nothing beats derivatives.

Given all our idle time in quarantine, I think I'm going to finally bite the bullet and refinish the BaCH bird. Since the color I'm going for (something near Willow Mist Metallic, a pale moss green metallic, somewhat like aged pelham blue or aged ice blue metallic) isn't really available from Reranch, I'm thinking of going this route:

I can get just about any color matched in a spray can, and it dries much faster than standard nitro. After that, I'm debating using Reranch clear nitro or their clear coat, though I'm leaning Reranch so that it will age like an old finish instead of resist UV. The site says it is an acrylic lacquer, which is what most of the old custom colors were, so I should think it'd be compatible with a nitro top coat, anyone have any wisdom on the matter?

That looks like a good option. I am still thinking about a refin on the fretless. Getting the inch thick poly off of it will be a chore.
