Thunderbird Club

I'll take it that neither of my Thunderbird brothers owns a copy of The Gibson Bass Book, it is described therein and there's a picture of this very bass, it's a lovingly made fake.
I do have that book, but I don't remember that specific bass. There's a lot of things I don't remember sometimes. It makes the world a new, fresh place all the time!

Time to pull it off the shelf again and take a look.

No, unfortunately no The Gibson Bass Book here. I can only humbly ask your indulgence! Should I be consigned to play a Jazz Bass for penance? For a while, I'm not playing on forever! That ain't happening!:)
No one should be required to honk. If you want a decent sound (other than a THUNDERBIRD), an 80’s Foundation with super ferrites is a much better alternative to a Jazz Bass. YMMV.

Congratulations my friend! That is quite the accomplishment indeed. I will say that I think your wife chose well!

Come September we will celebrate 33 years. Fortunately my wife loves wonderful basses as well. Just not quite as much as I do for some reason.
Thanks!

Well, mine wasn’t all that happy about the VP on the heels of the NR. But she puts up with me. We’re looking for a new sewing machine for her quilting hobby. Man, who knew there were so many types of machines. That’ll have to be obtained before I can visit the TT 800 subject again and getting the VP refinished in Pelham Blue.

I sat in with a group once and played the regular guy's J. Out of consideration for him and the fact I was only gonna play 2 or 3 songs, I didn't f---* up his settings. :meh:

Tip: Buy her a really nice sewing machine. "It's more blessed to give than to receive," but if you're giving is pretty good you're receiving might not be so bad either! (Hummm. Sounds disturbingly like some of the crockpot variety of preachers on TV. No affiliation with them whatsoever!)

Yeah. The logical choice if I had the cash costs 13K. I could get a lot of future mileage if I could afford to get her one of them. Heck, I could even justify that II in Seattle. Modern sewing machines have iPad connectivity and can make pretty much anything.

Updates!
It has arrived!

One thing I noticed while trying to find "Emberglow", the shades and the names change whenever. Kinda like TBird hardware.

Yeah, I'm looking at Pontiac Linden Green (WA3561), Silverleaf Green (WA2978), and Palmetto Green (WA3303), each of which i believe was only offered for 1-2 model years, from '63-'67, so they're all very similar, but are technically different paints (and were offered under different names under other GM brands). I probably can't really go wrong with any of them, they're all so close.

And all seem to vary and look more like this under certain conditions:

That will turn out great whichever you pick.

This(my '87 Freightliner)was painted Dupont(?) Trumpet Gold. Under different lighting it could look anything from metallic gray to green. The raggedy @$$ wagon belonged to the company.
