Thunderbird Club

My parents had a Ford that looked like this, only slightly lighter. The color was called "grey gold" but it was green. The car was an absolute pig, but it would haul anything.

It was totally rusted out by 1980. If it hadn't rusted, it sure could have hauled a lot of Thunderbirds.

We had the same car from probably 1977 to 1980 when dad traded it in on a pickup truck.

Haven't been in this neighborhood for a while, but I have a need.

Got a nice non-reverse Epi T-bird, with some Geezer pickups too.....it's gonna get the Fenderbird conversion like my others. Maybe. I need some kind of neck, was thinking about going with a '51 / telecaster style bass neck. Pocket is routed square so the tele neck square heel seems like a good fit, but it's not wide enough, so it would need enlarging. I can't remember if the MIM necks are still 2.5" at the heel? This pocket measures 2.4"

Maybe a standard neck from a regular T-bird would look cool. Will it fit without modification? If anyone has one, PM me. Pic for the non believers.

I don't think the Fender neck heel fits but people have routed the neck heel to fit rather than routing the neck pocket. That way you can go back to the original if you wanted to. No clue if a current Epi bolt-neck fits the same pocket.
That white Bird looks like it has a Travis Bean/Electric Guitar Co. neck on it. What's the story on that lovely?

Wow! 30+ years married. Sounds cool. I've been married for a year and a half. Then again, I'm 31 years old.
It's cool to be around experienced T-bird players and people in general. Thank you all for welcoming me.
Not so fast. You don't know about the watermelon apparel that's required do you?;)

Good news on the rehab front!

I have found that doing the strength exercises has resulted in improvements in range of motion. Playing at the first fret is now quite doable, although fatigue is now a factor. That will change over time. Tuning the F string on the Thunderbird remains a bit challenging (it is tuned DGCF and I expect to leave it that way for the foreseeable future).

But more important for this time of year, I did a dry run today of getting the kayak on and off the car. Success!
I will go out for a paddle tomorrow. I don't expect I will go too far and certainly not back to the old speed, but it will be great to get out!
Great news!

Please feel free to ask questions here, we all enjoy them the group is fun, chatty, from all over the world. We're drawn together by the basses we love, Thunderbirds! We go off on silly tangents like melons, automobiles, and electric trains but we return to the subject at hand eventually.
Wait, I thought this was the Watermelon club and we just went on a Thunderbird tangent regularly...

Looking good! And you're really enjoying that Studio, huh?

Can't wait to play it with the band - it's tight, loud, and has a nice RAWR about it, very nice!

Nothing beats a Friday night like new Thunderbird + Bourbon.

SG and JB also invited to the party.

+ 1 on the Bourbon...….Well it's part of a drink here called Bourbon Renewal. Mr Liver likes it!

Pre August congrats!
So if you tell us you are also into fly fishing, and given your moniker, all I’ll say is...
Nah, not fly fishing but very much into spinn fishing and since a couple of years back, really enjoy jigging. And of course boating, fixing the house, playing with the grand children and and and...
