RIGHT ON!! Love that lineup......saw them at UM right after American Garage was released..
Wow! Lucky you! I watch this vid/concert every once and a while - such an uplifting show!
yeah...growing up in South Florida in the 70's/80's wasn't all bad...
Because our band worked 6 nights a week from 75-82. I have no idea how many once in a lifetime great shows I missed. I wouldn't even look at concert schedules 'cos I knew I couldn't go. Why frustrate myself? FWIW, our group had lots of 3 and 4 part harmonies and specific arrangements of songs/medleys. There was no 'subbing'.yeah...growing up in South Florida in the 70's/80's wasn't all bad...

I feel the same - it's a joy to hear him speak so fluently about why a song sounds the way it does. Another guy I enjoy is Adam Neely - such minds these guys have.

The Adam Neely thing on "Ipanema" was really interesting. Especially since I've been playing/singing it since about 15 minutes after it came out. I patterned my sax playing after Getz's tone and solos. Not necessarily all that successfully.

Yep - $hipping is up. Instead of getting cheaper because everything is being shipped these days - it's putting such a load on shippers that they are raising their fees. Not to mention that a certain person who shall be unnamed is in the process of destroying the US postal service. Add to that, eBay and Reverb sales are now taxed across the board (CA used to be able to buy from other states w/o paying their sales tax) Makes everything cost more coming and going.

I saw Getz in KC at a free outdoor concert in about '77. He started the downbeat for a song but held it until a pretty lady who was walking just off stage took a seat - he was a very cool cat.

Agreed.
At least shipping via Reverb is much more affordable than straight up using a shipper. Too bad Reverb raised their commission to 5%

Yeah, shipping the EpiBird 5er through Reverb saved me a few bucks but I still got hosed. And now with the %age up, I prolly won't use them any more.
Then again, maybe I will since I'm likely to be trying to sell almost everything. Luckily, no rush so I'll be able to respond to lowballers rudely.
Coffee and maple bacon? It is breakfast beer.

We wore matching outfits. Leisure suits when they were "in", Matching 3 piece suits or tuxes on Friday/Saturday nights. Dark pants and matching tux shirts during the week. Matching Guayaberas one night(usually Monday)one night/week. Sometimes just the pants and vests of the 3 piece outfits, but with matching shirts. That's what was expected. Even on Friday/Saturday, the jackets came off after the show.(we backed up cruise ship type acts-with charts*-at the Marco Polo) Unfortunately(?)no pics that I know of and only some grainy-@$$ videos. If I can figure out how to get one song outta the continuous video(no 'indexing'), I'll try to post it on here. but audio and video quality leave a lot to be desired.
FWIW, the TBird was all original in those days. And I strongly disliked my SVT/810.
*no rehearsal, just a 20 minute 'talkover' for a 45 minute show.

Speaking of which, I used to sing harmony on "Arrivederci Roma" when we'd do that. I had no idea wuttinnahell I was saying.
