Thunderbird Club

Matching headstock? Like, the black bit painted? Interesting idea, hadn't thought of that...
Or not. It would be the TRC that could be painted, or at least replaced so it matches the scratch plate. Or maybe a chrome TRC. I'm spending your money with my imagination. It's fun!

There’s more than one kind of poly.

I need to stay off Reverb...

I know the problem. I have a closet full of odd mics and other equipment courtesy of curiosity and Reverb. The kid will shake his head when it's time to pick through the wreckage I leave behind. But he's a musician, so that wreckage may amuse him a bit.

Hmm...how about, TRC same red color as the body, with silver Epiphone script? Set against the regular black, and red edges/back of the headstock?

Imaginary money is the best kind to spend!
But once I get worked out what I want, have to come up with the real $$ ($$) :crying:

I've just been looking for a string nut for my new "project", as it doesn't appear to have one, and I've discovered something I was unaware of. :jawdrop:
The nut width on my Epiphone Thunderbird IV is about 1 11/16", give or take (1.73" according to Google searches). The Project (really need a new name for that... :meh: ) is an Epiphone Thunderbird Classic Pro, apparently, which is listed as having a 1.5" nut width. :wideyed:

Is this:
A) accurate?
B) the same as Gibson Thunderbirds?
:help:
That is correct. 1.5 for the CP

That is insane. I paid $1200 shipped from Texas to CA in January. It’s a great bass and I’ll never part with it. Good luck to the seller at that price. I think we kinda figured out that there were 400 of those and 400 bursts, most made near the end of ‘12 and called ‘13s.
jeez...he's dreaming...twice what the going rate is..

Well, in his defense he does have a unique one. I mean how many of these are still around that haven't had the headstock snapped off, and that balance nicely on a strap, and that don't sound like mud, and have a nice factory finish without blems all over it, and that still have all the saddles in the bridge in the right order, and a bridge that hasn't pulled out of the body, and a track record of being able to be used in any genre of music. We all know that a TBird that fits that description is as rare as a unicorn. I'm sure offers at his asking price will be equally rare.

Do you think the bass is a Gibson? Long ago one fellow posted an Ibanez Lawsuit NR it reminds me more of that.

Have you ever experimented with a different bass in AC/DC?

I played a Fender Precision for a little while, when I originally joined the band. Then—what is that little headless graphite bass that looks like a toothpick? Steinberger. Those were the first active pickups I ever used, and I really liked the sound, but I hated the bass.

I played it on the road for a while, but I just couldn’t stand the shape, so I pulled the guts out of it and dropped them into the P-Bass, which wasn’t bad. I’ve also fiddled around with a Fender Jazz over the years and a Gibson Thunderbird as well, but not for very long. I always seem to go back to the Music Man.

Sounds about right. Mine was made on October 31st, 2012. Maybe it was dressed up that day as a Steinberger.

Mine is a quality, well made bass. Very good condition. And is a monster with your SITs on it. Frankly, I would still have still bought it for a little more. If that one is truly Mint and the case is equally unmarked, I’d go maybe 1500 - 1600 were I in the market.

That's sounds about right. I'd consider my Stingray just about polar opposite to my Thunderbirds in sound and feel. I can see where if he liked the Stingray sound he may not find the thunderbird as much to his liking.
