Thunderbird Club

Really makes one wonder what they’re up to.

It appears to be a real thing which I was not aware of until doing this job. I read up on it back then. From an objective point of view, anything is possible but (sorry for the but) there is an equal chance it can be psychosymatic. Regardless, the mind is a powerful governor so even if someone believes something to be true - that can make it true to them with all (real) negative effects associated. So if painting a room/space with carbon shielding paint helps... who am I to say it is bs.

Pontiacs in the sixties were awesome; at least the GTOs and Firebirds were. Unfortunately the best my Dad bought was a Tempest Station Wagon. Even in Cali, it was a rust bucket. But the 350 in it was bulletproof. Brakes were horrible.

Dodgers/Giants of course. Double header today. The experimental seven inning rule for double headers is weird. Dodgers took the first 7 - 0. Right now we’re looking good with Jansen on the mound, two outs, bottom of the 7th.
Ah. Our teams(Tampa/Miami)decided to 'take the night off'. I'm so peeved at professional sports people right now that, for my money, they can all eat [something disgusting] and die. Their 'protest' does nothing to improve anything and makes them look like a bunch of overpaid over privileged brats-IMO. Their status as 'stars' gives them a platform to speak up on issues, not leave their fans in the lurch. If by saying this I ruffle a feather or 2, I'm 75 and don't GaS what people think about me. Too much PC. Aaaaaarrrrggh!
Next few listed games, hockey or baseball, I'll pull out my 'Bird and play along with some old tapes/cds.

I'm with you 100%

On my F/L it was called "Trumpet Gold".

I had my (custom) Supersonic, finished in FGM by Pat Wilkins and before doing so researched the colour - leading to that pic of the GTO. As Burgundy Mist Metallic was simultaneously known as Heather Mist Poly, I don't doubt it was referred to with various names. Trumpet Gold has letters in it I tend to avoid using theses days, but it is what it is...

I’ll watch it after the ballgame is over. All I can say now is I always wanted a Ric. Played many in stores over three years. Never found one that felt right. So I’ll buy more Thunderbirds, but I’ll probably never own a Ric.
I had two. One I bought because I wanted a Ric. The second came in a trade for an ACC stack I was letting go. I played the first one for a couple years before selling it to buy a Thunderbird. The second was some kind of special color and had a beautiful rosewood fingerboard. But I flipped it immediately. If I happened to come into a nice Ric by accident, it would make me happy. But I probably will never buy one.

I do both shielding and grounding leading to the same result - quiet operation. Sometimes it's easy and quick/straight forward, but recently it was a back & forth on a vintage 3 single-coil pu Burns hum until I got it quiet. Probably because of archaic post WWII British electronics.
