Thunderbird Club

Crazy shipping story. I went to the post office to ship a Thunderbird gig bag to JIO. Found a box that I could fold it up and would fit into (maybe 18x18x18). The lady figured the cheapest shipping.......$67! Recall it's gig bag and weighs hardly anything. I told her I would pass as the contents didn't amount to that much. Several people including her chuckled and made comments. She suggested trying UPS. I get the need for revenue, but not to the point of it being completely counter productive.

Beware what you intend to ship or say shipping included on!

That is crazy!! Is one of the Priority Mail boxes big enough for it?

You can get quotes from the 3 "majors*" online. But-make sure you're sitting. *FedEx, UPS, USPS
Does the pony express still run?

LOL - that just happened to me!:roflmao:
Recall a gave my FrankenGoth to my daughter a few months back. Fast forward to yesterday, and I was sitting around the house in a COVID lockdown boredom stupor surfing the net. Low and behold I ran across what looked like a pretty clean Goth with a $300 asking price. I sent them an offer of $150 shipped and they accepted it, I wasn't expecting that to happen.:wideyed:

So now I guess I'll have a new Goth in the next week or so. The fun part was explaining to my wife that I just accidentally purchased another guitar:banghead:. When I told her it was only $150 she just laughed:p

Not sure what I'm gonna do with it from a mod standpoint just yet, any ideas are welcome. But it will stay Black if not blacker. Pups, preamp, hardware, trim, strings are all up for discussion.
If it were me, I’d put Lollars in it and call it a day. So long as you can stand the tuners, that would make an awesome Thunderbird. Congrats! I love a nice Goth.

Not surprising. I sent a set of Chromes to Vee in OZ a few weeks ago. Our local USPO was in disarray around that time. So it took two visits to get a knowledgeable clerk to get it done. Finally got them on
the way to him by slow boat so it wouldn’t cost a fortune. Hoping they get there by Christmas.

Wow! I never saw another non reversed IRL...It was the first serious bass I bought.

To counter the weight distribution I wore it on one strap button, which for ever determined the way I wear and play any other bass.

I'm also a bit relieved that all my other basses fit in a standard bag, so I can leave that huge hardcase at home...

That must explain the $20 shipping cost on my replacement Voodoo Lab Dingbat Tiny pedal board case since my cat commandeered my current one. I posted a pic of that a while back. She's in there all the time now.

Yeah. And I think those reaction to song videos are also helping to introduce a whole new generation to guitar driven rock. The kids are all right. There will be someone playing my Tbirds when I’m gone.
Could be. There's a particular young artist whose reaction videos I really enjoy. She's done a lot of old rock ones and now she's looking for a guitarist. I was really hoping it wood have an effect on her.

I've also been considering procuring a cheap lefty guitar to mess around on. Like an Epiphone SG or Squier Jazzmaster.

Cool. I’m more an Epi fanboy than Squier, but I’ve got to say that the Squier Jazzmasters sure seem nice.

Oh good! I thought it might be something medical as well.
In network cabling, techs are taught never to look into the end face of any fiber optic cable. Apparently it’s really only the telco Single Mode Fiber that will have the power to burn your retina, but I’ve never tested that.

I had to check what T-bird thread I was responding to related to looking up at a solar eclipse w/o eye protection... never mind...

In many ways the Jazzmaster guitar (Fender or Squier) has eclipsed the Strat-style as the go-to guitar. P90's sound great and it's a stylin' design. Nels Cline and others who favor them also like the floating bridge whammy.

I was happy to find this. In 1992 I saw Iron Maiden at The Ritz in NYC. Held 1500-2000 people. They did a club tour to warm up their new guitarist at the time, Janick Gers. Really scaled down for such a big band. I had no idea there was a decent recording of it. There are some videos, but this seems to be the best audio quality. If you're into Iron Maiden, it's cool hearing them in a small club. The show was incredible.
