Thunderbird Club

And worth noting, both the RW series and the VP are basses that many people bad mouth - T-birds in general, and a "fake" RW finish. So much for opinions. A player of either will "get it" and that's what's important.
I played a Fiesta Red Road Worn Jazz a few years ago in a shop. It was absolutely THE best looking and playing new Jazz I've tried in ages. I should have bought it.

I like hearing one pickup at a time and have been weighing front vs rear for a long time. I think the answer has finally arrived: front.

Still addicted to tone=0 on the instrument, I just experienced tonight that that works much better if the amp has a James tone stack (like an SVT) that can really turn the bass down (as all of you probably know a Fender-type tone stack with bass=0 doesn't roll off but is just flat).

Glorious, glorious mids.
And solid, not rubbery or burpy, being from a front pickup.

I could have bought one for a nice close-out price a couple years ago after playing it in a music store ... but I currently own 3 killer J's so I couldn't justify getting another. If I didn't own the three, I'd have certainly bought it because it was that good.

Happen to know the brand by any chance? I'm thinking of selling it in the classifieds. It came with a bass (along with the Gibson HSC) and just don't need it.

Unfortunately I do not know the brand. I don't know that the tag even had a brand name on it. On both eBay and Amazon they list it as India brand. The model number is TB-130 and they claim its 30mm padding. Here is a Reverb link:

Now, see, now I don't know to thank you for helping me resist, or accusingly call you an enabler :meh:

On the one hand, are the good bits you mentioned, plus red (enabler! :smug: ); on the other hand, the bad, that it doesn't need any work...:bored:
LOL - sounds like you're hopelessly addicted to bass projects:D. Kara's home for wayward basses and Thunderbirds on the mend.:smug:

These things can be like little abandoned puppies or kittens at a kennel, it's hard to resist bringing one home with you. (Que up the Sally Struthers animal shelter adoption commercial for abused puppies).

Kinda like the bass guitar version of the crazy cat lady?
:roflmao:
:cautious:

I'm studiously trying to ignore it. Really!

Stupid  nonsense :banghead: at work tonight :rage: is helping?

Would rather be at home playing Thunderbirds :smug:
count your blessings....
