Thunderbird Club

don’t overlook the international element either... there was (dunno if still around, it’s been years) a bumper sticker that said “Would the last American to leave Miami please bring the flag?”..
I intentionally left that aspect out. But that's very true. We visited Busch Gardens years ago and on occasion ran into someone who spoke English. Not exaggerating. It's a tourist spot but still. Only a great place (not just the state) attracts people from literally everywhere.

Do you have a spare output jack? I would wire the bridge PU (by itself) directly to a jack, just hang it out of the control cavity, and try it.

Not sure if I do or not. I'll check the next time I get to work on it

I got a chance to try this, with the unused jack from my GZR pickup set. Straight to the jack, even without proper grounding (or connections... ), the p/u sounded a lot better.

Would this indicate a bad pot? Or just a bad wiring job? :bag:
Or something else?

I think our Queen will forgive me this indiscretion, absolutely no Thunderbird content. I won a piece of Jim Lea's stage clothing through a charity auction Jim held. The jacket was worn onstage and in the movie Flame. Slade is one of my favorite bands and Jim one of my favorite bassists, often over looked but one of the greats of the 70's. The jacket is in remarkably good condition here pictured with my Slade DR201, Jim Lea bass and Jim's flight case. View attachment 3983786 View attachment 3983787 View attachment 3983789

W00T! Congrats, my friend!

In all seriosity, central FL(basically along I-4 from Tampa through Orlando to Daytona Beach)is[or was] the number one/numero uno/ichiban/nummer eins/etc. tourist destination in the world.
Tampa has Busch Gardens, Zoo Tampa, Florida Aquarium, and some craft breweries; Orlando has Disney, Universal, Sea World, Gatorland, and craft breweries; and Daytona has the Speedway and the beaches plus they're a short distance from Cape Canaveral so, yeah, we get folks from all over. Some even speak Southern, y'all.

Sweet! The pickup is good!!!
My best guess is something got grounded accidentally.
You can test a pot by measuring resistance between the outer terminals. That should be close to the value of the pot. Between the center and either outer terminal will vary from O to full resistance as you turn it.

Be careful. Talking about pot testing while holding a CDL can be detrimental to one's career.

That's what I'm working on now
I just unsoldered everything, going through testing the stuff :dead: (okay so far). I'll have to get some more wire, and I'll just re-do it all.
Also, I think I'm gonna track down some audio grade m/f spade connectors for the bridge ground & output jack, to make life easier when I have to remove everything to send it for paint.

way back a long long time ago (Sept 19) I was in Queenstown NZ. Lovely spot, but no (or very few) Kiwis. People from everywhere else though.

That's just too cool! Glad you didn't hold out for the polka dot outfit.
