Very true. Just my opinion, that and five bucks will buy you a coffee at Starbucks. The strings in that pic don't look to me like they have nearly sixty years wear - Five, ten, maybe 15 years; Almost 60 years, probably not.

I have some Fender strings (flats) from the late '60's - Original packets/artwork also - pretty cool.

Well, it happened again. Went to do some of the 250K pot testing on the Goth and noticed it was completely out of tune. Every string had gone about a half step flat. Took a quick look at the bridge and yep, it lifted. Apparently the studs pulled out about 1/8". This is after gorilla glue (applied by the previous owner) and doweling and titebond glue twice by me. So as I warned earlier, if all else fails this bugger will get the Fender treatment.

My Hipshot Supertone now has four countersunk bridge screws that will assist the two Eppi lugs to hold it down. I suspect this will do the trick. The screws won't be very visible (mostly hidden under the strings) but will each bite about an inch into the body...

Got a bit of chatter on the last countersink, probably some aluminum build up on the bit. Screw head covers it fine though. Otherwise an easy mod if needed. The screw holes might even be a feature Hipshot should consider.

If this fails, the next step will be a Hipshot hardtail to completely remove all string pulling tension from the supertone, limiting it to purely down force on the bridge.

All this trouble you've had keeping a bridge in place on your Goth makes me feel very fortunate that my "wedge-a-glorified-toothpick-in-the-hole-with-the-insert" method (soon to be patent pending! :roflmao: ) for the GBP has worked out so well.

Of course, that's with the DRs on it, still. Not yet been brave enough to try a set of Roto 77s...

Yes, it certainly was a chronic illness on this bird. I have her strung with Cobalt Flats, so there's a fair amount of tension involved, but I can't imagine this fix not working. Time will tell.

Baltimore's fave rockers KiX, I really like these guys, they never got the recognition they deserved, lost in the wash of LA Hair Metal, they have a real "East Coast" vibe about them and note the Les Paula bass.

The lead singer was so going for Joe Elliott. Good stuff.

There's a certain (for lack of a better term) "sleaze" that I really like about Kix, not likely everyone's Cup of Tea but I think they're totally cool.

Really good band! Better than some of the big hair metal bands. Too bad they didn't get more exposure (sic). Looks like a really fun band in concert, too.

Lady Goth is out of the operating room!
Recall she was limping along and needed Hipshot surgery. The operation was a success. Four screws were installed in her Hipshot...

...she now has all her original functionality back and the screws are barely visible. The patient was a real trooper and didn't require any anesthesia, however the doctor did put down a couple of gin and tonics (strictly for medicinal purposes of course). Miss Goth is now free to resume her pot and cap test.
