Thunderbird Club

Yeah. Just trying to be cheeky. I read the other day when we were discussing him, he has a ‘71 Tbird. How’s that? We’re they doing limited custom Tbirds then even though they weren’t in production?

I'm doubtful of that, would like to see a pic of the bass.

You really don't fool around. If you were going to fool around.

I'm likewise glad you are using good sense. I'm running into more people who legitimately need pain meds (which would have previously been normally prescribed) but docs are too often not giving them when needed. I get the need to not over prescribe but not to hurt people who genuinely are in need. They seem to have gone from giving several weeks supplies, which was often way too much, to nothing at all.
I don’t blame the doctors tho pain is temporary addiction can be for life and opiates it’s a horrible miserable life for everyone involved they need to cut Bk on opiates here in the uk you go in for surgery I knew someone who had a lung transplant he was on morphine 3 days then paracetamol they’ve been that relaxed thinking at one point pain pills weeent even addictive now look at the state of your country isn’t there been more deaths in last 20 year from opioids than all the wars in last hundred years it was some crazy statistic like that I heard

Found this: 80s MIJ Greco refinished in blue nitro with a little of relic job. What do you think? How these compare to Epi Vintage Pro? If you could not afford to have both, would you let Epi go for this?

As much as I love VPs.... What Larry and Miles said seem to be the word of wisdom. Only someone who has both could give a good pro/con for each and describe the tonal differences.
Of course you might be able to pick up two used/demo VPs for about that price. If one were so inclined.
I have both a Greco and an Epi VP, it's not even a contest really........The Greco eats the Epi for breakfast, (but, then it eats almost everything for breakfast!) the pickup is WAY, WAY bigger, more bass, more everything. Build quality is about the same, maybe a little better hardware on the Epi, esp the bridge.

I also have both the VP and the Greco and would second what our Queen has said. Everyone knows I'm a Huge VP fan and have claimed many times that the VP is the best new bass purchase out there under $1000. That said, you can buy one anytime you want for between $500 and $800 any day of the week. The Greco is much harder to find, so if it were an equal to the VP in sound, quality and price I'd go for it first.

Unfortunately the Greco isn't equal to the VP in price. They typically run about $1000. The good news is that it's equal to the VP in quality (the bridge has its pro and cons) but the Greco sound is to die for, even better than the phenomenally good VP. It does have a wider neck, like most bolt on birds, and is only a set neck vs a neck through like the VP.

Given the option to buy a used VP for $600 or a used Greco for $1200 I'd take the Greco. The closer the Greco gets to $1000 the quicker I'd take it. Then later down the road I'd look for a VP if I still wanted one, they're easy to find.

I liked how candid he was in the video the other day about being in the endorsement game for a payday. Wonder what the next great strings will be. He’s a pretty good pitchman, I’ll give him that. And Strawberry Alarm Clock? He’s ok in my book.
If somebody'd pay me to use/endorse a product, I'd be glad to do it-as long as it wasn't a P or J. 7ender necks hurt my left hand.

Well that's just great..... Now there's a Greco on my wish list! Did you have to word it so persuasively?:D

I'm still surprised at what a great bass it is, if you do go looking I'd strongly recommend a II - I think George was every bit as convincing as I was..........
I'll have to do a little video of it sometime soon, it really is a monster.

If I were in that position and wanted a II, I'd get a IV and have it rewired to a two. I find the two pickups look more balanced and I need the thumb rest.

I didn't rewire nuthin'. I just don't use the superfluous pup. I use the neck pup cover as a thumb rest with my little finger resting on the bridge cover.

I'll second the II. I much prefer one pickups basses, and the Greco is absolutely top. Even with the volume turned down, I believe the 2nd pickup still loads the circuit and can effect the overall output and sound of and two pickup bass.
