Thunderbird Club

Oh man... just saw this...the good ole days..think I prefer @TBird1958 ’s version and audience.....that said...nice to see the alte kakers having fun!:D..

Ok. I’m ‘62. And I wasn’t all that young when that song came out. Graduated College....how old are those people and do I look anything like that? Scary.

Veronica’s vid is better.

Hey, people are up and dancing around - you're getting it done!

Re my vid, our drummer at the time (Wayne) was really on it and made it possible for me to play it correctly.

Looking good there Chucky! Tell me more about the nice looking Jazz. And were you slappin on that song?
Thanks George, yeah it’s a 2015 Elite that I put a white pg on (original is blk) and yes, some slap there...Taylor pops octaves on the chorus of the original...

Awesome!

There’s just something about the sound and look of a Thunderbird. They’re unlike anything else. No one ever pays attention to the bass player. Unless they’re rocking a T-bird. I guess it’s okay there are so many clueless players because more for us. But the bass player is usually the smartest person in the room. One of life’s mysteries I guess.

No offense, you look great and all, but you don’t compare to my Nikki.

Well I spoke with the '67 Blue Bird's seller's on the phone, and unfortunately they are unwilling to accept offers, as evidently the store "paid to much for it" and can't afford to take any less. I looked at financing it, but at $3,999, it comes out to almost $4500 with CA taxes. So, for now, it seems that's a bit out of reach. Oh well, just gotta keep looking!

Smart move. It's not your problem they paid to much for it. They're going to be sitting on it a long time.

You'll find the right one!

I think they will. The sales guy was totally into haggling, I figured I could go up to $3500 safely with my finance options, but when he checked it, his Boss had apparently flagged it specifically as not offers. Now I'll just have to keep looking and hope I can beat you out for any project ones that come up, I kinda want to have one finished in like firemist gold or copper.

Nice Elite! I've always liked the looks of the Fender Jazz body (more so than the P bass) and if you didn't already know, aged white (essentially French vanilla ice cream color) is my very favorite of the Fender colors. So much so, that I built one for myself some time ago...

It started out life as a Warmoth body blank with neck pocket pre routed (didn't trust my skills on that part of the job at the time) and sports a Rosewood/Rosewood neck, a custom stereo preamp I designed and had John East build, and of course a tort guard and non jazz pups. It was my main player for years. Your video has inspired me to get it back in rotation.

It hasn't inspired me to work on my non existent slap skills though, slap is a bridge too far for me. Neat that you feel comfortable doing it, there's a number of songs (that I avoid) that call for sound slap skills. Keep rockin brother!

Oh man. I feel for you. That really is a nice T-bird. They’ll hold out and someone will buy it. Probably a dealer in Japan. I would have thought they paid around $2500.00 and when pushed would have taken $3000.00. Sounds like they paid around $3500. Which I would have thought would be what they should have started with for a refin.

Good things come to those who wait.

... still on my watch list but I don’t need bass without serial number for 4K... got a gold mist / copper body today (not a bird) ... needs a bridge (cover)... :D

Re-fin?
It looks a lot like this one, which I choose not to keep.

Gorgeous bass! Something about that vanilla with gold h/w... very elegant imho...as for the slap, I wouldn’t sweat it, it’s a pretty dated style...;)

That's one I was considering- almost as cheap as they come, which made me wonder.

I've obviously not used it in a stage environment, just at home, but I've had zero issues with it.
It is very small (the metal box is really just big enough for the three jacks & the switch), which some of the reviews cited as a negative, but is perfect for me.
