Epi site says through neck.
Epiphone | Thunderbird 60s Bass
You are not alone.Yeah, but that's just the Reverse model.
The soon to be released Vintage 60's NonReverse will have a glued in set neck.
(Yes I'm delusional but at least I have fabulous delusions).
I found a different page on there, at 13.5 inches wide it could be done although tight. If a neck through were done that would be very do able.I don’t know if these blanks are big enough to build an NR, but apparently you can get a Honduran Mahogany:
Luthiers Mercantile International, Inc.
I’m wanting a keyboard. It would have to be in the “music room” (a large room above the garage) which is where the good stereo, a big TV and most comfortable couch is. It’s the warmest room in the house during the winter, so I don’t get to play in there all the time like I want to because the wife likes it. It’s tough with three of us here 24/7. I can’t remember the last time I was really able to crank it.
I’m having a hard time believing they would change the production specs of a popular model that’s been around now going on five years. The cost wouldn’t make sense.I’m seeing glued in![]()
try it with cinnamon sugar!LOL - my Brit friends pretty much consider Peanut Butter dog food. Personally, I love a thick slathering of Jiff on an open face sandwich sprinkled with sugar. Yum!
That's because Epiphone only uses bolt on and glued in necks to overseas markets where it would be too costly to mail a large neck through bass. Once they arrive at the overseas dealer the necks are bolted on or glued in place. Huge cost savings.I’m seeing glued in![]()
I called them, don't do that! After several attempts to get through I got tired of them not answering the phone. I called and let it ring, and ring, and ring. They finally answered after 0:45 minutes!I’ve dropped them an email to see if I can get any further clarification, I’ll update in here for future reference as and when I hear back.
Yeah, I just wouldn’t want anyone to get a surprise (myself included) thinking they were ordering the same spec bass as before. The new listing also talks of Indian Laurel fingerboards, don’t remember that being on the old spec either but I might be wrong.I’m having a hard time believing they would change the production specs of a popular model that’s been around now going on five years. But did they answer your question?I called them, don't do that! After several attempts to get through I got tired of them not answering the phone. I called and let it ring, and ring, and ring. They finally answered after 0:45 minutes!
Looks like the same neck through VP to me on the website. Maybe the copywriter got it confused with the yet to be posted 60’s NR Thunderbird?
It took them them a long time to get to the phone because they had their hands tied up glueing necks in our '60s NR PB basses. Stop interrupting them, I want my bass ASAP!I called them, don't do that! After several attempts to get through I got tired of them not answering the phone. The early ones were Rosewood. Then Pau Fero. So now I guess they’re using the Indian laurel.Yeah, I just wouldn’t want anyone to get a surprise (myself included) thinking they were ordering the same spec bass as before. Oh really? I thought they were busy applying Bright Cherry paint for me.It took them them a long time to get to the phone because they had their hands tied up glueing necks in our '60s NR PB basses. Stop interrupting them, I want my bass ASAP!![]()
no. I needed a TRC for my third pro. they literally told me they don't make those any more! I ordered from ertmer guitar in Germany on line, I think they charged me $16 bucks usd(I think that was the price). But did they answer your question?
Looks like a different head though. Not that it really matters in the overall scheme of things with a bass your not intending to sell anytime soon. Not able to leave well enough alone, I kept looking with different search criteria and found black #2 flat-head 1/4". I ordered a bag. We'll see what comes.
# 2 Black Wood Screw
How does it look different? And either way, I never play to sell my Thunderbird.Looks like a different head though. Not that it really matters in the overall scheme of things with a bass your not intending to sell anytime soon.
Last I heard (voices in my head) they were painting the NR basses in alphabetical order. They had just finished the Black ones and were starting the Blue ones next, then the Bursts. I think Red might be after the bursts, the Green, and the Pink ones, but before the White ones. We've been waiting for two years now, a couple more months is tolerable.Oh really? I thought they were busy applying Bright Cherry paint for me.
