A Ric is thin-bodied (maple) to begin with, similar in that respect to a vintage T-bird - it just lacks ergonomic sculpting. I made one Ric-esk headless bass (sold it a couple years ago) but won't again as their legal team goes after people selling 'copies'. As much as the Korina body on mine was 'based' on an '85 4003 I owned for a short time, it was a "one off" and I had no intension of producing more. Soured me to Rics ever since. I enjoyed the one I had, but not enough to keep it. Like T-birds, Ric's aren't for everyone and those who like them are devoted to them. I appreciate them as a unique design and sound, but found they have inherent design flaws that they have never addressed. (bridge >cough<ergonomics >cough<) They are very iconic though...
