Thunderbird Club

Gives me a good excuse to relocate the mirror :D

And probably rearrange all the furniture, too :smug:

...I was going to say when I get around to it, but I have one, somewhere...

Getting rid of a mirror and replacing it with Thunderbirds is completely reasonable. Most of us would rather look at Thunderbirds than ourselves.

I went to physical therapy to see about healing tendons in my shoulder that have been beaten to the likes of old frayed clothesline... now I've been working with big rubber bands to strengthen those little muscle groups in your back associated with shoulder blades. *AND* pushups, which I hate almost as much as pullups! Which are coming...
Anyway it's been working, and my work habits and posture have gotten noticeably better.
I also have to guilt myself into doing it, but since I've gotten results it's not that much of a chore. It's also good for my mental/ emotional state, a little lactic acid goes a mile...

I don’t mind pushups much, but have always hated pullups.

Meanwhile, I was thrilled to find my bruised ribs didn’t interfere with bass playing- in part because I hang the body a bit low.

It says the neck joint is glued in, but it also says the body is mahogany wings. Neck through means no joint, unless they mean the neck is glued to the wings. Who knows. Whoever writes stuff for their website may not be proficient in English or any other language.

Or have the slightest idea wuttinnahell they're doing

I spent way too much time this weekend looking for the handy dandy input jack tool I bought some time back. Vanished. I’ll just order another one I guess.

Bra, input jack tool.....It's always something!

Same here. I keep trying to have a guitar upstairs. It keeps getting banished back to the basement.
Wow. I’m toying with trying to get away with a few hangers beside the stairs. Do you think she’ll buy the argument that a few P Basses within easy reach can serve as weapons against an intruder? Of course I’d never use a Thunderbird for that....

A Ric is thin-bodied (maple) to begin with, similar in that respect to a vintage T-bird - it just lacks ergonomic sculpting. I made one Ric-esk headless bass (sold it a couple years ago) but won't again as their legal team goes after people selling 'copies'. As much as the Korina body on mine was 'based' on an '85 4003 I owned for a short time, it was a "one off" and I had no intension of producing more. Soured me to Rics ever since. I enjoyed the one I had, but not enough to keep it. Like T-birds, Ric's aren't for everyone and those who like them are devoted to them. I appreciate them as a unique design and sound, but found they have inherent design flaws that they have never addressed. (bridge >cough<ergonomics >cough<) They are very iconic though...
I had a '98 Ric and got along with it just fine. I never had a problem with the bridge or the ergos once those were sorted. It was easy to play, and it was probably the most comfortable horizontal neck bass I ever played. But for whatever reason, it just didn't do it for me like Thunderbirds do. It sure was pretty, though.

I find I don't mind the push-ups as much once I'm where I can do a bunch... as you get in shape, the rest of your carcasse doesn't get all messed up over it. Just the part you're stressing. :smug:

I take comfort in knowing that pull-ups will get less anxiety provoking also after a little investment.

These Hercules hangers are fantastic.

I approve of this excuse reason. Be sure to tell your wife I said that. You need either a bass handy or a good watermelon helmet.
