I obviously got this idea from Chamber (and used his photo to mock this up). I owe him for having the vision to bird out this EB in the first place.

So I bought an off white 2013 EB and have the pick guard and nickel covers. Now I need to decide on a bridge (I want to go all the way on this one). Two Point Hipshot or bridge and tailpiece? (ala 60's bird?) I'm thinking 2 point Hipshot on this other EB Bird I have, but I'm liking the older style bridge on the EB (despite my crappy Photoshop job). That being said, I thought I'd ask my bird brothers.

I love it! Looks great and no doubt sounds that way.

The one in the photo has other pickups. After playing around with mine, I'll keep the DeCola pickups and just put them in the nickel covers I got. The neck pickup was falling out of the cover anyway (when I opened it up to take a peek), so it'll be days. They're glued into the covers by globs of something that doesn't stick very well, apparently. Though to be fair, mine looks like somebody was in there before, because the pickup cavities had mis matching foam raising the pickups pretty high (so high that I couldn't get an undistorted signal without turning the volume pots way down when I first tried to record it).

Would the nickle cans interfere with the PUs magnetic fields in any significant way?

They all look pretty good, maybe look at a different Hipshot.

One thing: I think the 2-point Hipshot is backwards. It points the opposite way to the 3-point. But, this is how I wish their 3-point looked. I'd be find not covering up the third bolt hole in order to have a sleeker front of the bridge.

Saw a documentary on him last fall, on Documentary Channel. He's got quite the story to tell indeed and the trip through his storage room was something to see. He pulled out that famous white Strat on which he wrote classics rifs like You ain't seen nothin' yet, Hey you, Let it ride and probably a few others.

Welcome to the club! You just missed the boat on my Goth pickguard. I gave my only spare to a friend a couple of weeks ago. If you haven't tried it yet, a Goth with no guard but with the black screws installed looks pretty cool too, in an industrial kind of way.

Would the nickle cans interfere with the PUs magnetic fields in any significant way?

I've considered installing smoke Black cans over my Dicola pups, but haven't done it yet. From what I was told by members here and other places - metal cans will change the sound, mostly reducing the high end a bit. Because of the exposed poles I suspect you'd also have to line the inside of the cans with vinyl tape or some other insulator.

I'm not sure if the covers will interfere with the DeColas (my plan is to keep them in the bass). They're so powerful that cutting down their magnetic pull wouldn't be a bad thing (though obviously it would be bad if they lost all their top end).

I DO also like the Hipshot D Style bridge. That's what got me wondering if a full Thunderbird bridge setup might work.

You could always color coordinate with the rest of the band. Or do what I usually did when gigging, if I wanted to play a black bass I wore a light color shirt, if I wanted to play a light color bass I wore a black shirt. Heck, just take em both to the gig and alternate every few songs.

One thing: I think the 2-point Hipshot is backwards. It points the opposite way to the 3-point. But, this is how I wish their 3-point looked. I'd be find not covering up the third bolt hole in order to have a sleeker front of the bridge.

Yes, I'm this anal. How about this? I've already ordered this bridge, but I have another project for it to go on (an EB3L) if it won't work for this one.

Looks good! I'd of course do the same thing with reversing it. The two-piece I also thought looked really good. Also needs a pickup ring for the bridge pickup. ;-)
