Thunderbird Club

I don't know what the '60s necks are like, but not only are the 2013 necks a little wider at the nut than the Reverse (not P neck wide), but the neck is also very noticeably thicker. Not sure what problem people have with the volute, other than it not being historically-accurate.
I find the 2013 neck to be fine and don’t mind the volute. Don’t know how much it actually strengthens the vulnerable spot, but it does add a sense of security.

In honor of our newest club member @Yrag

My main player right now. Really loving the tone cap switch and the Hipshot bridge. She's a beast.

And my FrankenGoth with the lower hornectomy as necessitated by an unfortunate auto accident...

Not Thunderbird related but that's never stopped me. 47 years ago a monster was born. Slag 'em off all you like. The truth is is if it weren't for Gene I never would have been able to get myself onstage as a young lad. Being in the presence of his over the top confidence onstage literally was so powerful that it allowed a unbelievably shy introvert to make the stage feel like home, for that I am forever grateful.
Here's my original copy bought in early '74, it or course has Kiss'n Time.

Love that, Scott. Hotter Than Hell gets a lot of airplay here. I've covered Strange Ways before.

I have to credit Kiss for getting me into rock and solidifying the Les Paul/Marshall stack tone in my brain. When I was little, an older cousin gave me The Originals, which had the first three albums in one set. I still have it.

noob question here is it hard to set up a cab with amp head because I always used combo amps.
Maybe not the direction of your question, but.... Physically connecting, no. I've always preferred them because I don't care for one speaker cabs, generally. But having a separate cab allows some flexibility. At times we like the features of an amp, but may not care for their cab. Often it's ideal to match a factory head and matching cab, but better results can often be found to suit one's liking even better. Like picking a combo, it's something of a trial and error thing. You just at a little complexity when the decision of a cab is not made for you. But if you like a head X and their matching cab X that goes with it, it's not more difficult than finding a combo, just bigger generally. While amps are very important, I'm not so sure the cabs don't make as much of a difference if not more in some cases. Ex: I've played through great heads but certain cabs made it sound awful (to me). As a result, I'm as much a believer in the cab as the head, often times. There's more, but I've got to get back to work.....

Very similar for me, I had started playing the bass before I became aware of KISS, but Gene (and of course Slade) really were influential for me..........All these years later "No boots, No Glam!" still applies.

Pretty sure I'm the only person here that's worn silver platform boots onstage.
