Depends on the amount of pounds to be lost, IMO.
The more pounds, the more it justifies the expense.

I had a 2006 Epi EB-3L. I liked how it sounded, how the neck played, the intuitive 3 position switch, and the weight. I also 'admired'(?) its ability to dive like a Stuka. Probably the main reason I sold it. The new owner was quite happy with the fact it looked brand new.
Here's a video of it(and me)in 2014. The amp is a 1970 Kasino. Still have it.

That sounds great. I love the tone.

I got a great deal on mine. I think it sat in someone's closet for years - it still had the factory strings. I don't mind holding up the neck for that kind of tone... And it is all potential energy for when the headstock comes flying off.

We feel your pain.

The reason for it being cancelled is really lame. It was one Sunday a month in a town called Abacoa in Palm Beach County. This is one of those created small towns with homes and townhouses and a 'downtown' area with shops and restaurants on the ground floor and apartments/offices above. The restaurants-and bars-would make their monthly rent offa the crowds that came to see the custom cars and hot rods. The stage we're on is an amphitheater with grass seating(or bring your own folding chair). Within 2 months after the car shows were 86'ed(the apartment dwellers complained about the noise), 3 of the restaurants closed their doors. I mean, come on-it was one effing day a month. Sheesh! The one still doing some business is across the street from the baseball stadium which is the Spring Training facility for the St. Louis Cardinals and the Miami Marlins. And high A minor league Palm Beach Cardinals(St. Louis)and Jupiter Hammerheads(Miami).
BTW, I didn't take the 67 NR THUNDERBIRD on the gig 'cos of the typical FL heat and humidity. That's also why 4 of us are in shorts. Greg-sax man-doesn't like to wear shorts on a gig.

Seeing as we are completely off the rails. Out shaking the trees today and this fell out of Facebook market place a 20 year old Epiphone EB3, I can't believe they have been around that long. These aren't for everybody but they are a good take on the EB3 especially for the price. I ordered a Artech 30k mudbucker for it, should really make it come alive. I gave it a cleaning, new strings and a set up, plays great! These early ones have a rosewood fingerboard and solid mahogany body. Thanks Geoff - I am a fan of such but have a very specific focus.., and price range. It rings many bells with the control-knobs (when available these days the price is stupid-high) and organ toggle switches (rare) and original... cardboard case (more for collectors) but otherwise .., I appreciate your thinking of me! I did see a NOS '65 Framus (Germany) nitro sunburst bass body on eBay yesterday (probably short scale) - never assembled from the factory! They had a few of them! Crazy find from a collectors estate sale and actually they are asking a reasonable price. As many guitars/basses in the '60s - a Fender Jazzmaster/Jaguar clone which was the most popular clone made by many countries makers.

Crazy story, obliterated (lol) the pump on the AMX and was told they haven't been made in years......only option I was told was to machine a 401 pump....ouch!! So, I get on an AMX forum and someone mentions some dude from MI who rebuilds them but this guy's post was from 2016 and had the guys number...so, I call the number and dude answers! Unbelievable...Says: "sure, send it". Send me a check when you get it back!!!
Who even does business like that anymore? Even sent a new gasket!

That's so cool. Good to hear of a good dude out there. Did the guy mention playing Thunderbirds? Saw an AMX sell on a Mecum I recorded recently. Always loved those cars. Sad that parts are hard to find, but understandable.

Also, there was a whole thread here I think about wearing shorts at gigs.

The car shows were cancelled in 2015-about 2 weeks b4 one that we were booked to play.
AFA shorts, I don't like wearing them on stage either-and in fact I don't any more even if the other guys do*, but when it's 90F with 95% humidity and an outside gig, ya wear shorts.

*2 reasons. I ain't got the legs for it-as is seen in the video, and I've added(not intentionally)some kinda fugly scars to my left leg, so...

Very cool - when I bought my '66 Volvo 122s wagon (in '76 in Kansas City Mo) it needed the engine rebuild. I found a guy who lived on a farm outside of town who did it for about $800. When he was done it looked like new and ran like a top! Only car I ever loved.

I did a bad thing... I know we have Thunderbird Thursdays and Fender Fridays, but what to I do with this? When I saw the ad in my local classifieds I thought it had to be a faker because the price was too low, but the guy was just blowing out his "extra" gear, so I couldn't resist. The thing doesn't even look like it was played in the store, let along since he bought it. He had a beautiful 5 string Warwick on the wall that has been his #1 for years, and said he bought this, played it once or twice, and then sat for five years. I think I have a problem...
