The owner/founder of Mesa is old and was looking to retire. (presumably talking to more than one potential partner) Gibson made a good offer. I expect that new management (and financial backers keeping them on a relatively short leash) have little interest in messing things up.

It’s not that I don’t like hockey...Somehow watching sports doesn’t hold my interest for very long. I will go to work events at hockey games. Those are in box suites with food and drink.
One of the songs I sing in our group is "Old Time R&R". I'd heard it many, many times, but never really listened to the bass line, so when it was assigned to me, I made my own sorta walking line. It fits. Ain't gonna change now after 8 years or so.Things went northjust as I was trying to reply the other day...
Sometimes I won't even listen to a new song we are doing just to not naturally fall into repeating what the original player did. It's nice in that we get to make a song ours that way. Many times I like our version better than the original. Not that we're better players, just like what we did on the song better. Easier to do in a church setting. Change and classic rock song too much and people roll their eyes. Like I did when I heard John Mayer redo a Tom Petty song. I am up for trying new things and rearranging music, but sometimes you should just not. Of course, when you're famous do you feel more freedom to do things that sound awful because people will still think they sound good.

I'm with you. I like playing sports. Sitting and watching not so much.
I was never any good at playing sports. Playing instruments(woodwinds, Thunderbirds) was more my thing. I've enjoyed going to/watching on TV sports for years.
True. We go out as either 1 or 2 guitars, drums, and me. I like to keep things full-where appropriate. Other times, the 'spaces' make the song.
Maybe it’s because I’ve loved baseball all my life. Been high fiving at Dodger games since I was nine or ten. Don’t even think about it; it’s ingrained in my muscle memory.
