Thunderbird Club

Maybe it’s because I’ve loved baseball all my life. Been high fiving at Dodger games since I was nine or ten. Don’t even think about it; it’s ingrained in my muscle memory.
Yeah, I know it's 'a thing'. It just looks strange to me having been around as long as I have been. Fans applauded, whistled, stomped, whatever.
EDIT: Left out cheered. Oops.

I'm the same with Tom Petty. The recorded basslines are simple. With a couple of guitars and keys to fit in, there is not a lot of sonic space to share. When my brother and I play, one guitar and one bass, a little bit more busy helps fill up the space.
I played in a G,B,D and singer band most of the time years ago. Sometimes with keyboard and occasionally with two guitars. I learned, good or bad, to fill in a little more with a smaller line ups which still carries over some today, and now I have to intentionally think about playing less at times. But at times, more is still better.

When we are G,B,D(we all sing), I use my POG(octave up) during guitar solos to 'fill in' a little. With both guitars, they alternate solos and rhythm. No egos to get in the way. And the POG stays in the gigmobile.

I use my EBS Octave pedal the same way. Thickens things up a bit. Also helps me when I need to play higher for play-ability, but want a lower sound.

No, not just you. "We won" get to me like when an employee at a store says something like, "I'll have to check my inventory" or something similar. I can't help but wonder why they think what's in Home Depot is in any way theirs.
Hold on. You got someone at HD to check on something? I thought they were like Jeff Dunham's Walter-"Welcome to _______. Get yer[stuff]and get out."

My first octaver(BOSS)only went down, so I hadda play up an octave-an area of the neck I don't spend a lotta time in. I like the POG 'cos I can play where I normally play and let the box add the unison guitar.

Gratuitous pic...

Gotta run....

Just when you thought you'd seen it all, along comes something else...

That looks NASTY!
I don't think I could rock it without a full blown pressurized HazMat suit and gloves. I can't imagine the look on the store owners face when the owner tried to sell it to them.:vomit::confused:o_O
I like it! But I have no taste.

I was never any good at playing sports. Playing instruments(woodwinds, Thunderbirds) was more my thing. I've enjoyed going to/watching on TV sports for years.
On the "we won" thing, I'm highly 'amused' by fans high fiving each other when their team does something good. WT7?
I miss playing rugby. I don't miss the next three to five days.

I have played in bands where I mostly disappear except to synch with the best butt on the dance floor. Other bands were sparse to the point that the bass was a lead instrument even more than the singer. My brother told me I should be playing lead guitar instead of bass at one point. He sure knows how to slip in a dagger!

@JJR58 you are a bit behind on musical instrument news...

The owner/founder of Mesa is old and was looking to retire. (presumably talking to more than one potential partner) Gibson made a good offer. I expect that new management (and financial backers keeping them on a relatively short leash) have little interest in messing things up.

As long as you are catching up on news; you should know that Frank Zappa died... ;):roflmao:

Jimi and Janis, too. :crying:

It’s part of “taking ownership”. Which is an interesting concept having nothing to do with actual ownership of company assets, income, stock, authority, etc.

...
And through all of this, I have been unable to practice.
Last week I pinched a nerve in my left arm. I had previously had a nerve impingement in my right arm; it caused pain and tingling; I had surgical release. The plastic surgeon was awesome - I was unable to play the day of surgery and the day after but was back on it the third day.

This one is much worse than the previous. It is accompanied by very significant weakness in my hand. It is bad enough that when typing, although I hit keys with my left hand, I can't always depress the letter enough to register the keystroke (I suppose I will get better at proof-reading). That means it needs repairing soon, else muscle wasting sets in. And in the wisdom of our politicians, all elective surgery is to be cancelled. I am worried now that I may not get surgery in time to preserve function in my hand.
...
Sounds like you need to take an extended vacation to a state of your choice south of the border. You're pretty much free to see a doctor down here for elective surgery right now (wasn't the case last summer).
