Try that Bourbon with some lime juice and Ginger beer on a hot day............
I'll have to give that a try this summer.

Ha! Never was a fan of Mint Julips. Then again, there's not much I liked mixed in as it ruins the taste of Bourbon!
I'm not a big bourbon fan, always been more of a gin and tonic guy. That is until I ran across Eagle Rare bourbon. Super smooth, none of that burnt charcoal taste. Served on the rocks with with just a touch of simple syrup (about 6:1) folded in and it takes on a creamy caramel flavor that can't be beat. The biggest problem is the dang bourbon can be very difficult to find here on the west coast. Most stores have a one bottle limit when they get it in stock and they usually only get about one case a year.

I NEVER liked Bourbon, until I had a good one. Wish I could remember what it was, it was that good.
Bar keep, a tasty Kentucky Mule over here SVP, it's a hot one out there today.
If you can find it, try Eagle Rare (Buffalo Trace Distillery) look in the small batch or limited run section of your liquor store. I have yet to find another bourbon that comes close in taste. Blantons is probably second on my list. Eagle Rare is smooth enough to easily drink neat but cheap enough to use in a mix if you want. About $30 for a 750ml bottle. One of Kentucky's finest IMHO.

Yep Geddy is a national treasure. That video really shows their chops which have always been unbelievable until you saw/heard them.
Makes you go home and quit or practice harder.
I always come away impressed, and with a greater understanding how bad I am. Encouragement, not so much. I'd need a couple more lifetimes to even approach anything like that. (We did used to play Red Barchett years ago, but Geddy would have died listening to it. But no doubt would have been kind about it.)

I haven't had Eagle Rare but can't stand Buffalo Trace. as a daily I usually keep Makers Mark in the house but occasionally pick up one of the Four Roses brand of Bourbon. Really like Bullet(spelling is messed up) but don't buy it nearly as often.

Now Scotch is another matter entirely. Love Oban (western highland single malt). When I first tasted Oban it was about $35 bucks, the last year or so it has been more like $100!

I'm with you on Buffalo Trace, might as well drink Jim Beam. Fortunately Eagle Rare tastes nothing like it. I find it smoother and richer in flavor than Makers Mark and a bit more caramel finish, no smokey or burnt finish, very little oak, and very little alcohol burn on the way down.

A good Ginger Beer that has some "kick" to it really makes the drink IIRC it's 2 oz Bourbon (Or Vodka) 1 oz, lime juice and a hail cup of Ginger Beer. Shake the first two over ice and into a copper mug, then add the Ginger Beer.
