Thunderbird Club

Speaking of "adult music." I've always been a sucker for Dean Martin for some reason. Also liked Perry Como. Love Nat King Cole always have.

As much as I love classical music, often not fond of strings in pop-type songs where they are so dominant.

I never liked the thick strings on pop music either - but I think it just depends on the song and how they are integrated. They can either be lush... or schlocky. I even like schlocky depending on the song. :) (once again - love the way the bass sounds)

I used to do that one-including the high note at the end-in the mid 70s.
What I don't like is the strings doubling the melody. Very "bubble gum-y" to me.
EDIT: What was Jim Webb smoking??
EDIT 2: decided to sing along with it today. Couldn't remember the words for spit.:( Still hit all the notes.:)

BTW, when we/I did it our instrumentation was organ(double keyboard Yamaha), trumpet doubling ELKA string ensemble, drums, and me and my 67 NR THUNDERBIRD. Just remembered-the only other voices on it was 4 part harmony on the last note.
For 4 guys we sounded almost like a quartet.

My sense of humor... I have good days and... other days. :)

I’m not laughing Count. Always found that song annoying.

This damn song played throughout my youth in the 70's. How in the heck did it become so damn popular? Friggin' depressing lyrics and crap musically as well. Pop music in the 70's was the worst.

Seasons in the Sun brings back some great memories for me. I was in the 9th grade when it came out and my best friend and I took a road trip from Boulder Colorado to Juarez Mexico with his parents. I'll never forget his parents just dropping us off at a large market in the middle of Juarez and saying be back here by 6:00. Two freshman boys in the middle of a pretty seedy city with no adult supervision, no phones, no ability to read or speak the local language and about $100 cash in each of our pockets - what could possibly go wrong!

Anyway, that sappy Terry Jacks song must have played on the AM radio every third song for the entire road trip. It alternated with two other equally sappy songs...

To this day I cringe when I hear any of them.
