Thunderbird Club

Nice score!

Thx, sometimes, you just show up at the right moment :-).
Odd thing tho, the head -> cab cable is the phone jack type and not a Speakon. I spent so much time at the store tinkering with different basses and settings and also a YBA-300 (a beast, but not in my current price range), I didn't notice that.

A Lucite Firebird! And the price is not bad.

I've got a Lucite B.C. Rich Bich in see-thru yellow.
It looks like a Jurassic Park amber fossil.
Nice playing, nice sounding, and heavy as hell.
It weighs more than any bass I've ever owned, including my old Peavey T-40!
Makes a nice wall hanger though...

A friend is holding a Greco ‘Bird for me to check out when I get home. Don’t really need another bass, but really want a Greco :/

They're worth it for the pickups alone.

I wonder what it would take to get the early Greco pickups cloned? Do the higher wind Thunderbuckers come close?

I think/really hope you like it Mark, easily one of the best "Birds out there.

Although I understand why speakon is a better connector, to my mind, it is a marginal improvement that justifies only a small price increase over phone jacks; a much smaller price increment than is currently charged.

Agreed, I never personaly heard a noticeable difference between Speakon and phone connectors. I'll be looking for a good phone jack tho. I had a bad experience with my first rig years ago, a Hartke 5500H into a 215 vx Series. The cable I initially used completely fried. It's the only time I used a phone jack connecting head to cab, all the other stuff I had used Speakons. I don't remember what cable I used then, but I'm guessing I went for whatever was at hand at the time.

The Bird is really happy with this rig !

I've got a mid '80s NJ series Canary Yellow BC Rich Bich, but it's not lucite. I think it's Basswood or equiv, 'cause it's super-duper light. Realllllly light.

Slightly Jellyouse of Bassmike62, lurvs me sum TRAYNER!

@Instagator Clear basses won't make you look fat if you play them backwards.

I have seen some really good deals on used stuff at L&M.
As long as you have decent quality speaker cables, phone jacks get the job done. I wish the whole industry would move to speakons, but it doesn’t seem like it will happen.
