Thunderbird Club

bizarre....

Good evening Thunderbird loving sisters and brothers. I found this old photo and couldn't resist posting. I have been contemplating the new NR birds that are coming out, and saw this picture. Looks like Brian Jones has a 6 string NR? I am familiar with the Firebird, but not certain I have ever seen this instrument before. Wild suit, unusual guitar, but Brian was known for both. I hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Our last TSC's rehearsal before our re-immigrant post-lockdown outdoor show (RIPLDOS) is tomorrow. I will bring my Coral Deluxe Bass to A/B it against my Teiscobird. One go-through of the set on one >[break]< and a second go-through on the other. The one that feels/sounds the best tomorrow wins. I hate to do this as I love them both dearly... but "best foot forward" and all...

Same club, different night - too far from my drummer... it is a weird L-shaped stage w/no monitors on the stage right of drummer so we had to cramp together. I think it was because the bass amp was over there. (shared amp)

Yes - both (T-bird) basses and (Fire-Bird) guitars 'flipped' in the late '60s. Brian Jones understood style of the day.

Thank you JIO, I appreciate the reply.

Thanks JIO, I appreciate the reply.

Brian Jones had some serious issues. Reading Kieth Richards book laid it all out. He was the high maintenance band-mate, even more than Mick if that was possible. Mick and Keith were very close and Brian (he started the Stones) was ... difficult. Still.., loved the Stones then - my favorite iteration.

Re-introducing American blues/black heritage music back to America.

Love the finish on the Teiscobird.

A quick pic of the Greco that should be arriving later this week. Will be interesting to see if there’s a noticeable difference between it and my Greco II.

Nice! There was a red one on Reverb, I was sorely tempted - If the NR weren't coming out soon I'd have been on it.

I prefer DGCF to drop D. in drop D, the notes are in the wrong places, whereas with DGCF, all the notes are where they should be.

I used to have a Hipshot dropper thing on one of my basses, but now I prefer to have a bass tuned DGCF in the studio. There’s a few young hotshots in Nashville that keep all their basses tuned to C# if they don’t like 5 string basses (I sold all of mine years ago). The theory being that a bass doesn’t typically need to go any lower or higher than that anyway. Whatever works, I reckon

If I needed the D/Eb a lot, I might put a drop D thing-y on a bass(NOT the 67 NR),or...hook up the POG on SUB.

if I have to drop to the D on the fly, it only takes a second to do it the old fashioned way :)

What a sweet looking bass! The one I’m likely getting is typical sunburst. Would love a white one at some point
