Thunderbird Club

I do much prefer having a hood, within reason. I get pretty uncomfortable driving things where the hood is so short, I feel like I'm driving a van/CoE/cab forward type of vehicle. Even most of my "small" cars have had prominent hoods, like the '89 Supra I drove for years.

I think a number of people are like that, possibly one of the reasons trucks/SUVs remain so popular. Gives the feeling (illusion?) of having a bit more space & protection from the rest of the crazy drivers
My first truck was an 86" BBC, 160" WB on 40K rears, FL COE. Great view but if there's an accident, you're the first one there. Second truck was 225" WB FL hood with 36" shack on air. What a difference!

One of the trucks I learned to drive on was a Freightliner hood truck - a buggy-sprung '86, with a 425 Cat, 8-speed, and a sleeper not much bigger than a Thunderbird hsc :meh:

Just like w/4-wheelers, I prefer trucks with hoods. The longer the better, generally. Imo, they ride better, drive better, have better access to engine bay, etc.

Change of plans for this afternoons charity gig. Temp was ~84, humidity ~50%(that's low for FL). Took the 67 NR and played it all afternoon. We had other guitarists and drummers show up, but I was 'it' AFA bass players. I tried a new-to me-experiment: set the POG full on the played note, ~11(o'clock) on the sub, and ~1 on the upper. Kicking it in gave a fullness that I wasn't expecting. Gonna hafta remember that.
Crowd was not as big as it shoulda been 'cos the skies were very overcast and looked like it was gonna pour. It didn't, but since this was predominantly biker crowd, many stayed away.

The 36" sleeper was sufficient at that time('87-91), but would be a bit snug now. And it didn't shrink.;)

our lovely queen her highness has turned me on to a new drink, the Bourbon Renewal. A bit sweet for me but absolutely delicious. Thank you @TBird1958

Choosy livers choose Bourbon renewal!

I had two just yesterday, out in front of my fave place "The Tin Room" in Burien, WA., (The NY Times even wrote this place up as worth a visit should you be in Seattle) with my sweetie.

That's a bit of a relief. I'm pretty familiar with the tune, it used to be our opener, and watching you I was, like, "wait a minute. It sounds great-but looks wrong." Took me a minute to figger it out.

Haha, most of the people would say that judging by the same thing. I do transport every single tune I play.

Hey guys, I already tried the VP and I really don't like it. The NOS CP one not arrived yet so I can't tell. But for comparison, I tried an Allen Woody Epiphone while in store and like the sound (not really on the look). So, how's the CP sound? Is it closer to VP or Allen Woody?

never played an AW but the CP has more thunder and less clank than the VP.

You have my sympathies. I am currently going through something similar; my mum is dying of cancer. Back in January, we went through all the documents - power of attorneys, will, funeral arrangements, etc. Been working on long term care/palliative care for when she can no longer look after herself. Also discussed how much treatment she wants. Yesterday we discussed the fact that she needs to make a list of people we should call. It is difficult to discuss someone's death with them. And the terrible thing is that we don't know when - next week, next month, next year...

As for the piano, from what I have seen, acoustic pianos have a negative value. There are always ads offering free pianos to anyone who wants to pick it up.

My brother bought a house a couple of years ago. Left behind was an upright piano. The lawyer asked for a list of deficiencies (missing fixtures, appliances not working etc.); I told him to get an estimate for disposal of the piano and submit it. Worst of it is that middle C and the B beside it are out of tune.
Apparently movers are constantly being offered free pianos because their customers couldn’t sell them before moving.

Not that I need another TBird, but I'm very curious about the difference in sound between the Greco II which I have and a Greco IV. So long story short, I have a Greco IV on order. Will be able to A/B the two and report back in a couple of weeks. There's a chance I might only keep the one that speaks to me the most, if so there might be a bird floating around looking for a new home.
I have a spot picked out for it!

A guitarist friend got a B6 organ (the home version of a B3) for free that way. I helped him move it (heavy/awkward) down a long steep flight of stairs to his SUV. Sounds awesome!

Yeah..what a ray of sunshine..fans that I talked to during break were comparing their shot dates..lots of hugs last night..For most people it was their first time out in over a year.
Sharon and I dined in at a restaurant last weekend for the first time in 14 months.

My heart goes out to all dealing with aging parents deteriorating in some fashion. Sharon and I each lost a parent to cancer. Her mom had Alzheimers pretty bad for a few years. My dad out-lived them all. Over the last two years, his short term memory has started leaking (he just turned 93). At least he gave up his car keys without too much of a fight. Mom II is 16 years younger than him, so with the help of my sibs who live nearby, they are ok for now. They’re in Georgia. Sharon goes back for a visit soon, and I’ll go out shortly after that.
