Thunderbird Club

Did my first gig on the ‘02 Gibson ‘Bird with Chromes. Gotta say, I like Cobalts a bit more, but they were decent

Strings are instant telling - they either are there ... or not. Your ears know what they want to hear.

I do much prefer having a hood, within reason. I get pretty uncomfortable driving things where the hood is so short, I feel like I'm driving a van/CoE/cab forward type of vehicle. Even most of my "small" cars have had prominent hoods, like the '89 Supra I drove for years.

I think a number of people are like that, possibly one of the reasons trucks/SUVs remain so popular. Gives the feeling (illusion?) of having a bit more space & protection from the rest of the crazy drivers
I ride a motorcycle most days. Low mass and agility have advantages.

And my "car" has been a van for a long time. Being able to see at intersections is great!

I hated 80s pop. But like everything, there are bright spots that get trashed along with the detritus. This is one of those spots. Just can't help but like this. Brings back memories of tight Jordache jeans and big hair.
Over time, something about the original annoyed me. But I couldn’t not listen and move! I wasn’t a fan of 80s covers of 60s hits (or quite a bit of 80d pop (originally typod “poo”, how apropo)) but this affected me like the original, if not quit as strongly. Still very cool, and great seeing Rexx into it!

Unencumbered by the reality of work and other matters, given the opportunity, I would live in Alaska. Anchorage seems like a beautiful city with moderate weather. I might consider relocating November through March though.
Anchorage is beautiful. And if you call sub-zero temps moderate, it’s perfect.

My wife has a cousin who was an officer in the Coast Guard and lived many places. Alaska was his favorite place to live. Retired there...for a while. I'm sure it's stunning in many ways, but not for me.

Good morning Thunderbird loving sisters and brothers, and welcome to the weekend. I am taking my wife to the Portland area once again as she continues down the eldercare/what to do with mom's house and most possessions road. A formidable task to be certain. I had that experience 15 years ago with my dad and the home place in Walla Walla. My wife is having a bit of an issue finding a new home for mom's old, but much loved and well cared for baby grand. An unexpected surprise in these days of covid and whatnot. She is hoping to donate it to a worthwhile organization that perhaps works with youth. Anyway, I may be back for suggestions depending on how this trip goes. Have a great day everyone.

Life is certainly trying at times. Hoping and praying for the best for your family.

Hey guys, I already tried the VP and I really don't like it. The NOS CP one not arrived yet so I can't tell. But for comparison, I tried an Allen Woody Epiphone while in store and like the sound (not really on the look). So, how's the CP sound? Is it closer to VP or Allen Woody?
Closer to the VP, but not as bright. The Allen Woody sounds like neither. Just a different instrument.

Thanks much Dagrev. There are many difficult decisions when it becomes clear a loved one is not able to live on their own any longer. In this case my MIL has had a couple of falls, and is now convalescing at my wife's sister's place in Missouri. The house in Oregon has been sitting unoccupied for a bit, and it has become clear she is not going to be able to live there again, even with in home care. I suspect we will be spending a fair amount of time in Oregon this summer finding a good assisted living place and cleaning out and selling the home. It has caused me to reexamine my own affairs and just how much stuff I have accumulated.
I am looking forward to the drive, between covid and working from home, just doing a bit of traveling will be a welcome change.
