Checks out as 2012, according to SN pic. Those CherryBirds are beautiful !

Two things to report. On my ‘02 Gibson ‘Bird w/ Lollars and through my rig, I do not like D’Addario Chromes one bit. Did two gigs and it’s not like they suck, but it ain’t right. I have a buddy who runs Chromes on a P bass and through his rig they sound awesome. Oh well!

The other thing is I grabbed that Greco today. It’s the one in the middle

Nice bass, I think. Neck is a bit chunkier than the Gibson, but not as chunky the Cataldo. Oddly, the thing I like least about it is someone put a Gibson truss rod cover on it. I’m fine with it not being a Gibson!
Nice Greco! I agree on the truss cover. Inaccurate branding is a pet peeve of mine. If ya got a Greco, fly that banner with pride. I think the truss cover on the Greco I just ordered is missing, so if you find a Greco replacement supplier let me know I might need one also.

A heads up for Greco gigging artists - the three point plus hardtail bridge layout looks kinda vintage and does move the silks away from the saddles. However, if using the hardtail as the string anchor the three point doesn't have anything holding it in place other than down force. After a couple hours of use I find my three point has slid back towards the hard tail a bit and obviously effects intonation. So if using the hardtail while gigging it may be a good thing the glance at the bridge once in a while to make sure it's still in place. Last picture I saw of Chucks bass he wasn't stringing through the hardtail so he's probably safe. It's not a big deal, just a heads up.

Thanks Chuck. He's not going wireless and nothing has changed is what he's using all the way through to the PA speakers, or anything in the building for that matter. Not that something can't develop. That is only does it after everything has been on a while adds to the confusion.
I think you mentioned he's playing an active instrument, and the battery was replaced but still did the same thing after some extended playing time.

If that's the case, there's an outside chance that the battery harness in the instrument might be shorting out and draining the battery prematurely. It could be something as simple as a strand of the multi strand wire touching something it's not supposed to, or an exposed battery harness wire intermittently touching something it's not supposed to touch, or possibly a bad output jack.

One way to test for this is to measure the power of a brand new battery before installation, then when you get the distortion check the power of the battery again. You shouldn't see any drop in power on the battery, if you do, it's shorting out. Sometimes you can even feel the battery getting hot when it's shorting out.

nice! do you know the year?

1990, I’m pretty sure :)

Played it through your rig yet?

Inquisitive Queens want to know :)

I just hooked it up through my Mesa TT800 and Berg HDN212. It sounds good to me so far. It’s strung with Rotos, which I don’t dislike, but they wouldn’t be my first choice . My Gibson has Chrome flats at the moment, so it’s tough to really a/b em. Pickup locations are quite different. I’d also like to raise the neck pickup a bit. So far I like it though!

.
Interesting! I have a spare Hipshot 3 Point replacement bridge. Wonder if it would fit the Greco? Not that I’m in a rush to start asking changes. Only had the dang bass for an hour or so :)
If I heard anything about Greco truss rod covers I’ll let you know for sure!

ok, rant time....getting kinda fed up with active electronics, I mean they work beautifully on instruments that had them from the get go such as the post 7ender LF stuff....this thing is a dream player...

I was not at all pleased with the tone from my “active” P through that Ampeg/Hartke rig
yesterday...yes, the rig (and room) is partly to blame but attaining a workable tone should be more straightforward from “pro” grade gear. can’t help but think I’ve been spoiled from playing T-Birds for the past few years.....so, current thinking is....look for a vintage P or.....hmmmm....

I might not buy a Thunderbird yet. The CP already sold. Unfortunately, they forgot to update that the NOS already sold few months ago. Now that I can't get the CP, I'm not able to join this club (yet). Might be in the future, when I can purchase the Gibson one. Thank you so much for your kindness guys.

You're welcome here anytime :)

Thank you so much. I thought finally I could get a Thunderbird. This is me, circa 2013 with Epiphone Pro5. I don't like it, so not bought it. I try to love the VP, but I can't. I thought the CP might be the answer, but I'm a little bit too late

Sorry to hear that. I thought you had two to choose from. Both sold?
