If possible push down on the pup to relieve a bit of pressure from the screw. Then while holding the pup down, completely unscrew the screw. Run the threads over a dry bar of soap and reinsert the screws in the pups. The soap will lubricate the screw and it should be much easier to crank down.

This will work but if you are a wood worker and have wax, which if you are a wood worker you will, use that.

Yeah pretty good, I like what he said about the time and amp settings: amp settings for a Fender are not amp settings for a Thunderbird.
I don't have a neck-dive issue, and I'm using the original strap button positions (neck heel and bottom of bass).

Mine will eeease down if I let go. No dive.

I think the term dive has come to mean "any tendency, no matter how small" for the headstock to move toward the floor".

A lot of people like the Super Brights (said Captain Obvious). I've not tired them because bright and angry piano is not what I shoot for. I like presence definition, but beyond that if get nervous hearing things I don't care for way up on the high end.

You may have to remove the PU and find out how deep the hole is drilled (first), then drill a little deeper. (Capt. Obvious, again) Could be it just not deep enough. Shallow, like me.

Funny thing about Super Brights is they aren't really...super bright.

I recall hearing that before come to think of it. How would they compare to a typically bright string like Rotos? Any thoughts there?

Dunlops right? I found them to be snappy and well-defined, balanced. I've got them on my CP and they're really good.
Rotors are gnastier, raspier, more aggressive in the top end, but the Dunlop Stainless Super Brights are a bit smoother, punchier. I like them better than Rotos
