Nope. People from both genders like hockey, so it simplifies certain things if you find the right partner(s). But I think (and this is very personal) that more guys like Thunderbirds, with a few notable and graceful exceptions, of course.

Speaking of them, tried a white VP today on my lunch hour. Still holding off for an ebony Gibson, but that VP tone is absolutely fantastic. I totally understand the love they're getting.

Yep! Sounds doggone close to the 60s version. Way more than the modern Gibson, which is simply wonderfully made and plays like a dream. Save yourself some money and get a Thunderbird that sounds about as close to a 60s as you can get.

I found 2 and 3 somewhat similar (the differences are cool, and don't IMO favor either). I liked 4 next, and found 1 a bit meh.

Bose Sound Touch 20 matched with a Sound Touch 10 which I use in my office.

After listening again with decent earbuds, I like 2 the best. Bigger sounding but with some bite, then 3, then 1.

There are places where "A [person's] gotta know [their] limitations" but that's not how you get better at playing. So keep it up!

I quit playing once for a bout 20 years. Maybe the dumbest thing I ever did that didn't involve booze. Lord willing I hope to enjoy playing till I can't carry out adequate respiration.

Seattle in the late '80s, when we got here, was all about grunge. That was fun, too. There have always been lots of undercurrents around, though, so there's always somebody doing something interesting somewhere.

I met a musician from Portland at a Nels Cline show in Oakland years ago (awesome show!) He felt like Portland was the poor cousin of Seattle. Probably true. On a much bigger urban scale, Chicago was always (still?) considered the red-headed step-child of NYC. Chicago in my estimation is a powerhouse as far as cultural issues are considered. I think Covid has sort of leveled the playing field across the board.

Someone was talking about hockey, so I can’t resist posting this pic from Saturday nights dive bar gig. We’re VERY interested in hockey during the summer down here in SW Florida.

The Stanley cup was making the rounds all weekend, bar hopping from place to place. Just happened to appear during our first set, along with Coach Cooper and one of the Asst Coaches. I had to run over and get a pic with my trusty Thunderbird. Go Bolts! Thunderbird and Lightning.

Someone was talking about hockey, so I can’t resist posting this pic from Saturday nights dive bar gig. We’re VERY interested in hockey during the summer down here in SW Florida.

The Stanley cup was making the rounds all weekend, bar hopping from place to place. Just happened to appear during our first set, along with Coach Cooper and one of the Asst Coaches. I had to run over and get a pic with my trusty Thunderbird. Go Bolts! Thunderbird and Lightning.

I live on the east coast, across the river from Stuart. My daughter(who lives in Winter Garden)and I went to the boat parade yesterday in Tampa. Got to see (in this order) the Conn Smythe, Stanley Cup, and Lombardi Trophy. (And all the players and Coop and Vinick) Pretty dang good trifecta. But I envy you getting that close to the best trophy in pro sports. GO BOLTS!

I've lost some dexterity/speed over the years, and I never could(or wanted to)slap&pop. But I've still got my [somewhat weakened]ear and pretty decent recall of bass lines. I guess I could woodshed and try to build my speed back up to where it once was.

I live on the east coast, across the river from Stuart. My daughter(who lives in Winter Garden)and I went to the boat parade yesterday in Tampa. Got to see (in this order) the Conn Smythe, Stanley Cup, and Lombardi Trophy. (And all the players and Coop and Vinick) Pretty dang good trifecta. But I envy you getting that close to the best trophy in pro sports. GO BOLTS!

That’s awesome! Really nice over there. I don’t get to the east coast enough. I watched the parade on TV, since I’m in Sarasota and lazy about driving into Tampa.

Next time, you guys should make your way to a place called American Social in the evening. That’s where they have the players dinner. It’s closed to the public but you can still see all the players out on the patio, on the water, where they come out to see the fans.

My daughter and her boyfriend attended the dinner this year and last. The boyfriend works for American Social. Lots of craziness went on inside there. She has some great pics from hanging with them in their element (beer).

So the best trophy in sports goes to ice fighting?

Seriously I would like to get interested in Hockey. Seems to be one of the few sports where players don't feel compelled to lecture fans on issues other than the only thing they are probably good at. I may become a serious hockey fan.

I tell people there are more punches, etc., in each play in (American) football than a whole, average, hockey game. The difference being you can't see the stuff going on in the pile up, but you can see it all against a white sheet of ice. And it's a very fast game.
ADDENDUM: If you have a minor league hockey team near you, those games are relatively inexpensive and you'll get to see guys on their way up(or down) the various levels.

That's more profound than you might think! How cool is that. First and likely last time in history and we all saw the pic! It's like the pic of John F. Kennedy playing a Thunderbird in the Whitehouse. Wait, that was.... Never mind.

Very true. I love football. But the NFL is wearing me down with things other than football. (They ignore the saying: Stay in your lane, man.)

We had the River Frogs in the mid/late 90s, but that's it as far as I recall. Seems like there was another team for a while.

Actually, I like professional lacrosse. The players don't make huge money - they need to maintain a job to survive, so they are playing for love of the game.
