Thunderbird Club

haha

I am the master of heavy gear Rotation... had like 60-70 instruments since 2012... but sometimes a deal is just tooooo good to pass on it... well... often it is.

Only 6 Instruments left now:
- 2012 NR Bird in sunburst
- the Epi to come (White)
- Mexican P (all "ZZ Top Style", lake placid blue, Gold anodized pickguard, pinstriping)
- cheap ass P copy
- Jack Casady Goldtop
- Ibanez Blazer (1982, for sale...)

but still.. yeah I tried to get down to 3.... i can't

I'm not sure I understand. If the pickups are out of phase with each other, you should be able to resolve that by reversing the wires on one of the pickups.
It ain't no Fneder pup. There's only ONE 'signal' wire on a vintage style TBird pickup clone, the other is the ground...trust me on that. I've been intimately involved with around 300 of them.

I've been trying the same technique with my Fender too but I've removed the tuning machines too so it will never go out of tune

...and neck dive problem solved! Ingenious.
I also love the way you disguised that TBird with a Fender strap, now the sound engineers won't roll their eyes when you walk in to the recording studio. Again, ingenious!;)

The EY parts humbuckers have been fitted. Was supposed to be wired V-V but the two 9K2 pups are out of phase, so he wired them master volume and blend instead.

Kat - nice rig! I heard a YBA at a gig for the first time a couple of weeks ago and loved the sound. Very warm and plenty of punch. This is a TBird club, so the obligatory hats off to your choice of Birds as well, looks great!

Not sure what to put in the two holes where the pots were removed. Some sort of rubber grommet/cap I suppose ... or stickers, for more of a Nicky Wire effect.

Throw a dummy switch in one of them, or install a kill-switch that actually functions. A rubber grommet would work as well and kind of disappear.

Nice setup!!

Well indeed, I would expect there to be a hot wire and ground as well, so I am a bit bemused.

I did wonder why there was no neck dive, hey folks, problem solved but... my old Bird didn't dive either.... guess it must have been one with QC issues or Henry Juszkiewicz left his wallet stuck on the back or something.

Been a long time since I saw the inside of a studio, must be nearly 40 years and I had hair then too, I wonder if a Fender strap will cure that too?

I still don't understand. All you need to do is reverse the hot and ground wires. Even if the hunbucker had 4 conductors, you would only use one hot and one ground (unless you wanted to split the coils) and connect the remaining two wires to each other (this is done internally w/ with a 2 conductor humbucker). Reversing the hot and ground wires would put a humbucker in/out of phase with the other pickup just as it does with single-coil pickups.
