Thunderbird Club

Tobacco Burst Larry, To-bac-co Burst! :woot:  I actually like 2-tone bursts. It's the 3-tone I can't stand. Red and yellow just don't work for me. Not the way it's generally done. I did have a G&L that was 3T burst and it was the best looking I ever saw.

This I like! (Not sure what that white is around the PU. Must be reflection on something.

Paper routes are thinner but still out there. Generally handled by someone with an auto, though.
We know lots of teens (mostly gals) who babysit, and several who mow lawns.
I know of only two kids that have/had jobs like mowing. Neither one very dependable, but at least they try doing something other than having their heads in X-Box. Used to around here, whenever it was snowed we would all run out and try to get jobs shoveling sidewalks (hardly anyone had a driveway where I grew up). We would go around and knock on doors for mowing and shoveling (different seasons), to get some money. Otherwise THERE WAS NO MONEY. I couldn't recall if a kid did that in 34 years of being married. I personally don't need it, as I just get the farm-girl wife to take care of it. (Just kidding, just kidding.) Though she will gladly help. (Snow is one reason why no one should live North of Kentucky!)

View attachment 4397573 I don't know if anyone has found a gig bag for an Epi VP yet, but as I am now living in Thailand I had to get a bit inventive.
The hard case is so big it won't fit in the boot (trunk) of the car and it is even too long to sit across the back seat ! ( C class Benz).
However, an 88 note keyboard gig bag is a perfect fit !
I ordered one on their online shopping platform here and got one delivered .
600 baht which is 30 USD !
I guess it'll cheaper than custom order gigbag. If I knew this information sooner...

Although I wouldn’t be keen on a 3TSB type finish on a Tbird, I really like the 3TSB (or as some call it - lava burst) finish on my SG Supreme…

I think Burst finishes are very instrument specific, kinda like tort. IMHO both a 3TSB and tort look right at home on a Fender Shaped Object, not so much on a Gibby (although they made them).

That burst looks fantastic. Maybe because there's no black or just very little on the bottom. I need to revise my belief it's the red and yellow I don't like to it's red, yellow and black. Hey, it's a 3TSB I don't like!

that said, a TBird with black h/w and pg finished in that curly eye maple (like on right) would look RAD…

You're absolutely right. A dream build for me would be a curly maple topped Thunderbird with a nice translucent finish of some kind. A green, deep red, blue burst, red burst, black burst..... So many color options. And binding, maybe. Maybe. But all that curly maple would look killer.

I had kicked around the same idea. I was thinking about using dense foam in it and cutting it out to fit a Bird. The cost started adding up pretty quick once I started pricing everything out tho so I ended up with the Epi case.
