Thunderbird Club

:DSo much to love in those pics!
Shine, CAR Eppi, Craftsman tool chest, pancakes…:hyper:

BTW - that’s some fancy moonshine there. Mine never had a label and was in either a mason jar or mayonnaise or peanut butter jar. Never tried blackberry shine, liked the cherry shine though. If I’m ever up your way we’ll have to raise a glass.
'cherry Bounce is the bombdigidy!

I had kicked around the same idea. I was thinking about using dense foam in it and cutting it out to fit a Bird. The cost started adding up pretty quick once I started pricing everything out tho so I ended up with the Epi case.
I bought a keyboard case for the 67 NR. After adding padding and batting to get a better fit, the thing weighed a ton and was unwieldy as all getout. The Coffin case is a bit awkward, but at least it's fairly protective. And it's the only non-custom case the bass would fit in.

yep or cherries(cherry bounce) Im sure peaches would have been popular in Georgia.

While I’m waiting on my Thunderbird to come back from the shop, what strings are club members typically running on their particular basses? My shop asked if I wanted a setup and new strings put on, so I’m having them put on a set of DR Lowriders to try. Thoughts?

I love Ernie Ball Cobalt flats on all my birds.

Although I wouldn’t be keen on a 3TSB type finish on a Tbird, I really like the 3TSB (or as some call it - lava burst) finish on my SG Supreme…

I think Burst finishes are very instrument specific, kinda like tort. IMHO both a 3TSB and tort look right at home on a Fender Shaped Object, not so much on a Gibby (although they made them).

That Lava burst is stunning!

Back on track. This was for sale here a few years ago. Thunderbird PUs would have made it stratosphere interesting. But I'm sure the Nordy's sound fantastic. Not the bridge I would have used.

I sold that guy the body used in that build. There was a guy out of Utah that would sell these bodies once in a while on eBay and I was planning a project that I never got around to. I would have taken it a different direction but it looks like it turned out nice.

That's funny with the Junior Johnson sig on the jar!

(For those not aware, Junior was an old school NASCAR driver and later team owner. And just may have been involved in nefarious transportation activities prior to that.;))
There are definitely racers who learned to race by running from the law.

I understand, "mixed" was not meant in the technical sense, but is likely what some ol boys in the hills would say about such things. "Fruit and all kinds of fancy fixin's in shine? What's the world comin' to. Them city types will be sippin' it out of cute little fancy glasses no doubt."

I like honey! It makes everything better. Even bacon!
Honey is my favorite natural sweetener by far.
