Looks like it is on the top of the headstock. 3rd picture down, Funny how you can't enlarge that picture.........

With a zoom in it looks like the word MOD is stamped into the top back side of the headstock. I guess that makes it harder for someone to chrome it out slap on a pickguard and truss cover and pass it off as a more expensive model (although with this asking price you’d be hard pressed to do all those upgrades and come out ahead on the resale).

Huh. That TR cover is just wrong. I don’t like the selector switch on my Mustang and don’t think I’d like it on a Thunderbird at all. Unlike some here, I like the bridge pickups in the mix. I think sans pickguard is something that would be interesting were the hardware chrome. And are they the same pickups or standard Tbird +. Interesting but not for me.

I love the color. Looks even darker than the 2013, at least in that lighting.

That color really changes under different light. It’s really lighter than the ‘13.

The chrome is worth the extra $200.

So much has come up, but I'm now taking the plunge to be able to split (actually, really leaning towards parallel), placing an order for the Bartolini Classic Bass soapbars recommended to me the last time I posted here. Ruled out the EMG because I would have had to go without the back plate or drill holes to do coil split. Had to buy from two separate sellers to get the neck and the bridge pickup, but it was still cheaper than the Gibson 2015 pickups on Reverb, the only seller being in France. I went with the M3 size, as the screw spacing is the same as the EMG 35 type, and therefore the Gibson Thunderbird type, but the pickup is overall a bit smaller. Better than hogging out wood, that's for sure.

I had brief GAS for a Kramer Duke bass, but realized the series mode was much like my Thunderbird bridge, so with that GAS gone, I was able to buy the Barts instead.

I get what you're saying but I guess I'm not young enough to appreciate this offering. I'm with George on the pricing though... not sure if $1,200 is right but somewhere in the $1,300-$1,400 range might be the sweet spot. Where it's priced right now is just $200 shy of the flagship NR, right?

Yes. But recall the last Reverses were $2299.

Probably because they are more complicated to make. The new NRs are simple construction by comparison.
