Thunderbird Club

That's good news! I wonder how many are spoken for versus being able to put some in general stock.

Good question, I figured they'd all be snapped up but you're probably right. I need this bass like I need a hole in the head (geezer idiomatic expression) but I couldn't resist.

I don't remember if I ever posted my 2018 LE T-Bird but here it is, obligatory lousy picture since that's all I'm capable of doing, Lull pickups.

I grew up close to Churchill Downs, thus not far from the airport. When I was a kid, once in a while you would hear and see DC-3s going over. Such a unique sound.
I remember my Dad taking us to Presidio park overlooking the San Diego airport to watch them. It was really cool when they started flying 707s. We really wanted to fly on one.

Great pic! Hopefully you can see her before too long. But don't let her pick your seat on the flight. ;)

Does she get to Cal very often?
Ha! When she does the Boston to L.A. flights. We get to see her for a bit when she does. It's been about once a month. Were still hesitant to get on a plane ourselves. We're going to block some time in the spring and do it.

When I went to UC Irvine, one of my running routes took me by the El Toro Air Station (long gone now). It was good fun to get blasted by one of the jets taking off.

Yes! Occasionally at lunch we'd go across the street and stand at the fence about 25(?) yards from the end of the runway. A literal blast when the jets were taking off! Some days it felt like we got burned but we were always fine.

The 707 was the first plane I flew on! Back then, on Armed Forces Day, you could buy a ticket for a quick clight around El Paso, and they pointed out features of interest, including at the local bases. Apparently there was nothing secret to see from the sky. Dad and I took a flight when I was 8ish, and I stayed glued to the window. I think I was 26 or 27 before I got to fly again, my first trip for work. It was, as I recall, a short trip from Atlanta to Jacksonville. It was just as mysterious and thrilling as my first flight. To this day, I love flying.

Which airline? I've flown twice now, both times on Delta because they have had the best covid-safe rating. No problems.

Then again, I was flying to see my 93 y/o dad. If it weren't for that, I'm not sure I'd be ready to fly yet. We are jonesing to see our daughter and her fam in Alaska, I have to admit.
