Yeah, AAAs are more survivable, but that doesn't say much. In either case, early detection is the best way to save a life; unfortunately they are generally symptom free and so are only caught by luck.

In all, choosing to have finished the guitar solo could have been fatal. Seconds count.

They also tend to be somewhat hereditary. But not always.

Well, I guess that makes it more reasonable. Oh, wait, how many do I have? Eleven with the upright. Six are Thunderbirds and one is a Fenderbird.

I have a basement, so less pressure to cull. If one had to go, it would probably be the VP. I like the Gibsons and even the bolt on a whole lot more from an ergonomic standpoint. The pickups? Well... that is why the VP is still here.

Don't even think such thoughts.

It's always a question of what to sell. Quite a few of my basses are untouchable, and even though I have three Dean Exotica acoustic basses, it wouldn't be a quick sale selling one, certainly not if I asked $400 for my latest...and it is, of course, a desired taste.
The T-bird, on the other hand, is still a hot item, I think.

Yes, there is that. A Thunderbird is likely to sell pretty fast.

The wife and I just celebrated our 37th anniversary on Wednesday. She’s a keeper - she keeps me in cars and guitars and every other hobby I spend money on. She’s much lower maintenance than I am, just an occasional diamond here or there. it doesn’t get any better.

Am I missing something? For two grand I can get a bass played by a fictional cartoon character?

Interesting update on that 2018 Thunderbird with the ridiculously off-centered bridge and pickups. Gibson had me send it to them for evaluation. I was assuming they'd say that it plays fine and send it right back to me, but they pleasantly surprised me by offering to replace it. Only issue is that all they currently have to offer in left-handed is that LP Junior DC Tribute bass or a guitar. Since I'm not interested in either short scale or a guitar (I'd love to learn how to properly play guitar and a Gibson would be amazing, but I don't have the time for that), I'm seeing if they can table the offer until there's hopefully another run of left-handed Thunderbirds. TBD.

Yeah, how cool is that? Not many can say they have a bass once owned by a cartoon character.Fictional, you say. He's right there playing it.
