Thunderbird Club

It's interesting to see the different ways Gibson finished Thunderbird headstocks. On that one, the area around the TRC is finished the same as the neck and body. On every Thunderbird I own, that is black. New NRs have a painted headstock with the exception of the TRC. When the Flamingo got refinished to BMM, I had the choice of leaving that part black or getting it finished BMM to match. I stayed with black. Firebirds that I have seen generally have the whole headstock painted the same color.

Gibson weirdness. Go figure.
I think they were consistently inconsistent in some respects. There are some Sunburst that have all black Headstocks as opposed to just black in the center. I saw 77 white that had white around the outside of the headstock which seems a little more normal. But I don't think there was a normal. Not to mention that mine is that really odd white with a '76 stamped serial # and "second" on it. Note there were no white '76 Thunderbirds.

I don't know, but I caution you on a simple internet search. No telling what you could end with in the results! Set your filters high first.
When I searched for service monkey, this is what I found...

Looks like a good time!
My experience with the Sadowsky basses I’ve had - wonderfully built, solid instruments, but to my ears I just didn’t hear a $2000 difference between that and a Fender Jazz. Offed the Sadowsky, kept the Fender.
The Warwick Corvette $$ is a fun little beast. The neck can dial in some deep creamy thick tones and the bridge can deliver a nice punch. That one might be a bit brighter than the okanvol or bubinga body vettes. All my Warwick’s are VERY string sensitive, they can take on completely different personalities depending on the string selection (nickel rounds were my favorite for a deep gritty growl)

Never tried one but have heard there’s a definite mid focus on that Ibby. If so that could come in very handy in a mix.
Would love to hear your thoughts on each of the three after you’ve played them a few songs.

Good evening Thunderbird loving sisters and brothers. Just dropping in to say hello and wish all our service members a sincere thank you. Thanks as well for the good advice I received regarding the recent recital I played at. Essentially ad hoc bands of students perform for family and friends. They are great fun and the first time I had been near a stage in about 18 months. First time I have ever gigged or performed with my Thunderbird. Beyond pleased with her sound up loud. Several inquiries and compliments on the playing and the bass. Nothing else like her at this performance. I have to say after Steal my Kisses, I felt like Soulshine almost played itself. Great fun. Thanks again for the good advice and suggestions, much appreciated. Have a great evening folks.

Yes. The Australian fun police rise in overarching power are one of the reasons I retired to Thailand
My next door neighbor spent 20 years in Thailand. He is back in Seattle with his Thai wife now. She recently shaved her head for Thai reasons.

My wife and I are delighted to have him back next door and really happy he brought her back. They are great.

That has nothing to do with anything except to say that life is good for reasons we can't anticipate.
