Thunderbird Club

I love The Cult -but- they were never good to any of their bassist', Jamie Stewart in particular. It was always Astbury and Duffy's band so drummers and bass players got the short end.

I left out The Cure which was by far my favorite band of the 80’s for that genre anyway! Simon Gallup is a severely underrated bassist!

I have a reverse with the button at the heel, I would think that Gibson put it the way it is for a reason. Most Gibson are at the heel, I have an EB4-L here and when I sit down playing it the strap has passed over the front of the body a few times and it does support the neck better but I use big wide 3" and 4" straps to prevent neck dive.
Would you (or anyone else) happen to have a photo? I am contemplating a button move after rehearsal the other night. I was uncomfortable all night. The bass didn’t sit well on me.

I left them where the factory put them. Both are on the heels. I think the button is on the heel of every Gibson bass I've ever owned or played. Just make sure you get a nice wide strap and get it adjusted just right, you'll get used to it.

I have a dozen basses now and others have come and gone. None ever felt this bad. I’m just hesitant to poke a new hole in the beautiful finish of a new instrument.

Our member @Goatrope has added a strap pin at the heel of his new NR, as I recall he really liked the change as it brought the headstock angle up quite a bit.

Oh, I didn't know you were talking about the non reverse Bird, I haven't even tried mine yet, it's stock, sorry about the confusion, I hadn't even realized the neck strap buttons were on the top cutaway. I was talking about my reverse T-Bird. My non-reverse is the same color as yours, I'm heading to the States in about ten days though and can't wait to try it out.

The original NR hang bugged me, and my Reverse hangs exactly where I like it, with a heel button, so I made the leap.

It was definitely a pucker-moment, drilling a new bass, but the change was transformative. About 20 gigs in, and I’m thrilled. :hyper:

Hope this helps with your decision.
